"Dean. Hey Dean." Dean was sitting in front of Riley, and Riley was poking at his back with his finger. It had been fifteen minutes since the lecture started, and he was growing more and more bored every second. He couldn't understand why only the boring lectures took so long. Why don't they take less time to teach about the centuries they are never going to use in their lives? Instead of that, they can teach something fun or practical that they can use in their day-to-day lives. But no, they won't. They will teach you about historical events from centuries ago, which you won't even look at after the school is over. Just why?! Why don't they understand it?!
"Hey Dean." This time, Riley patted Dean's back lightly.
"What's wrong with you?" Dean turned his head back and spoke in a low voice. "If you bother me again, I'm going to complain about you to the teacher." Dean glared at Riley, and Riley took his hand away from him.
"Cool down, bro. Why don't you love your brother anymore?" Riley showed a worried look. "She will kill me if she finds me disturbing her class." Riley said, leaning back in his chair.
Dean turned his head back in front of him and again started focusing on what the teacher was writing on the blackboard.
"The lecture was so boring," one boy said right after the teacher left the class.
"Yeah," another boy said while yawning.
Dean shook his head, seeing those boys talking like that. They were the same students who were happily asking the teacher questions in her lecture. And now they are talking like this. They are really hypocritical.
"Hey, get up. Let's go to eat." Dean turned his head to the back and tapped Riley's head with his finger.
"Let me sleep. I need to recharge myself." Riley mumbled against the desk.
Dean rolled his eyes and got up from his desk.
" Okay. I'm going to the canteen. If you want to eat something, tell me." Dean said to Riley before he could go out of the class.
Riley raised his head and said, "One ice cream, one burger, two sandwiches, and french fries with red sauce. That's all."
After giving his order, Riley again laid his head on the desk.
"Who is going to give me money for all this?" Dean glared at Riley's head, trying to dig two big holes in it.
"Who will give me money?" Dean shook Riley by his shoulder, and now Riley finally raised his head to look at Dean.
"Man, you are really greedy," Riley said, taking out his wallet before throwing it in front of Dean on the desk.
A smile came to Dean's face. He immediately took the wallet and opened it, but there was nothing inside, only a piece of paper on which someone's phone number was written.
"There is nothing in it." Dean threw the wallet back at Riley.
"That's what I'm telling you—I don't have any money. Go buy me something from your pocket." Riley lazily said and laid his head on the desk.
"Last time I paid for your food, and before that, and before that too. Where do you use your money? What, do you think I am a millionaire or what?" Dean slammed his hands on the desk, and it resounded heavily in Riley's ears.
"Ouch, my ear." Riley touched his right ear as he raised his head from the desk." Do you want to kill me or what?" Riley asked, covering his ear with his hand.
"Yeah, I'm really going to do that one day." Dean said before wrapping his arm around Riley's neck and pulling him out of the desk and then dragging him to the canteen.
"Where are you taking me? I told you I don't have any money today." Riley yelled, but Dean didn't let go of him. Money wasn't a big deal. And, moreover, he wasn't going to feed Riley something expensive, for which he needed a lot of money. He was only going to buy something normal to eat.
After they both entered the canteen, Dean chose a table to sit on.
He made Riley sit on one of the chairs, and he himself went to bring the food.
After a minute later, when Dean came back, Riley saw there were only sandwiches in Dean's hands and nothing else.
Seeing those sandwiches, Riley made a face at Dean like he was going to throw up, but Dean just ignored him. He wasn't going to use his money to fulfil this prince's demands.
Dean placed one plate with two sandwiches in front of Riley and put one on the table for him, then sat down.
He took a sandwich and started eating, while Riley was still staring at his plate, contemplating whether to eat or not because those sandwiches didn't look tasty at all.
"If you don't want to starve until the last period, then eat it or forget it." Dean said and tried to take Riley's sandwich from his plate, but Riley immediately grabbed Dean's hand.
"I know, brother, you can't see me starve, so I will eat for you." Riley said before taking his sandwich back from Dean and gobbling it down his throat.
"Eww. I've never seen anyone eat like that. Eat like a human." Dean stared at Riley and said,
"That will waste my time when all I have to do is eat. It doesn't matter how I eat, as long as my stomach is filled. Right?" Riley said before picking up his second sandwich and walking out of the canteen while continuing to bite on it.
Dean stared at Riley as he walked out of the canteen and didn't even look back at his friend. He didn't care that his friend was still eating, and he needed company while eating. He was a total jerk.
Dean sighed and got up from his table. He looked around the canteen to see if anyone was there with whom he could sit and eat, but no one was alone like him. Everybody was sitting in groups.
" Sigh." Dean was going to sit back down on his seat once again, but only then did he see a kid going to sit at an empty table. He seemed alone. So, Dean picked up his plate and crashed onto that kid's table.
The kid seemed to be in eighth or ninth grade. He had a cute face, but his expressions were serious, unlike a kid's.
"May I sit here?" Dean asked with the softest smile, and the boy stared at Dean like he was an alien.
"But you're already sitting...but I'd love it if you'd go. I like to eat alone." The boy said, taking a bite of his burger.
Dean's expression turned gloomy, and he wanted to hide in some corner of Earth.
Why were people like that with him? Why does no one like to sit and eat with him? Why is he the only one who wants to see others happy and give them company? But no one felt the same way about him? This was so pathetic.
