Meanwhile back at 'The Kings Planet Research Center' a couple of months have passed since the exploration team had their impromptu encounter with Jade.

The captain had been forced to request replacements for the entire team except for the woman who led the team, as all of them claimed post-traumatic stress or some other and got themselves reassigned.

Obviously, they just didn't want to be anywhere near that place anymore, but the captain knew it was much better to replace unwilling soldiers than to force them back into the fight.

Nothing had been happening with the planet over the past few months. The scans had been uninterrupted providing a continuous stream of data about the planet and its conditions.

The ecosystem had fully stabilized and was self-regulating. Plant life was abundant, there were no animals to speak of on the planet but it was unclear if that was by design or not.
