Chapter 42: Chapter 40: Sirin, The Little Angel

"Nothing, he's just sleeping. Did my acting fool everyone? Hehe." Fu Shi looked at the crowd with a mischievous grin.

"As long as everything's fine."

The staff breathed a sigh of relief. If someone had died in their hot spring inn, how would they continue running the business?

"I'll take Fu Lin back to his room first. Everyone, it's fine now—please disperse." Fu Shi carried Fu Lin's body towards his room, making sure to cover him with a towel along the way to maintain his modesty.

Siberian Snowlands...

"Why did it suddenly get so cold? Where am I?" Fu Lin curled up, looking at the unfamiliar furnishings in the room, feeling puzzled.

"Where's Fu Shi?"

"Could it be I was kidnapped while soaking in a hot spring? Where have they taken me? And my body..."

Fu Lin struggled to push open the door with his weakened body. What he saw was a vast expanse of snow and an empty, deserted town, making him doubt everything.

"Big brother! Why are you up?"

'Big brother? Is she talking to me?' Fu Lin turned around curiously at the sound behind him, only to see a little girl with long purple hair looking at him with a worried expression.

The more he looked at the purple-haired girl, the more familiar she seemed. Then it dawned on him, and he tentatively asked, "Sirin?"

"Big brother, please go back and rest. Mom is already gone. I can't afford to lose you too," Sirin cried as she threw herself into Fu Lin's arms, looking up at him with tearful eyes.

"...Alright, I'll listen to you," Fu Lin said, wiping away Sirin's tears and forcing a smile.

Following Sirin's request, Fu Lin lay back on the bed, feeling the overwhelming weakness in his body. He felt like he was on the brink of death.

But that's not the main issue now. He needed to figure out why he was here!

He quickly called up the system screen and checked the information while he was unconscious. For a moment, he was at a loss for words.

Then, he glanced at Sirin, who was cooking rice porridge nearby. Calling it porridge was an overstatement; there were barely any grains of rice. He frowned, sensing that this situation was far from simple.

'The most important thing is... what's the mission? Damn system!'

'If you don't give me a task, how am I supposed to know what to do?'

"Big brother, have some. It will warm you up," Sirin said, holding a bowl as she walked to the bedside, pleading with him.

"Did you have some, Sirin?" Fu Lin instinctively reached out and patted her head, seeing her angelic expression.

"Big brother, Sirin isn't cold. Please drink it quickly, or it will get cold," Sirin shook her head.

As expected of Little Angel Sirin—she's just too adorable!

Looking at Sirin, who seemed to radiate a dazzling light, Fu Lin couldn't help but spit out a mouthful of blood.

Literally spitting out blood.

"Big brother, what's wrong?" Sirin, seeing her brother suddenly spitting blood, frantically put down the bowl.

"...I'm fine," Fu Lin waved his hand, signaling her not to worry. But there was no way Sirin could be convinced.

"You're spitting blood; how can you be fine?" Tears welled up in Sirin's eyes as she took out an old handkerchief to wipe the blood from Fu Lin's mouth.

"I'm really okay. Please don't cry," Fu Lin said, forcing a smile, but this only made Sirin cry even louder.

"Don't leave Sirin! Please don't leave me!" she sobbed.

Looking at the crying Sirin, Fu Lin felt a mix of emotions. Although they had just met less than an hour ago, and he didn't have strong feelings for her yet, he still couldn't help but comfort her.

"I won't leave you. When we get the chance, I'll take you on a trip around the world and let you try all sorts of delicious food. How does that sound, Sirin?" Fu Lin said, extending his pinky finger toward her.

Fu Lin thought, 'Why does this feel like I'm setting up a death flag?'

"…Okay. Big brother, you must keep your promise," Sirin said, hooking her pinky with his, her voice choked with emotion.

"Promise, promise, no breaking it. If broken, the liar will be thrown into the glacier. The glacier is cold, the snowfield is freezing, and the liar's tongue will freeze and rot!"

"I don't want to throw big brother into the glacier... As long as I can stay with you, that's enough..." Sirin murmured softly, cuddling into Fu Lin's arms, and soon fell asleep.

Fu Lin didn't know what to say anymore. He had just arrived in this world, and things were already this complicated. Who was the little troublemaker behind all this?

Seeing Sirin asleep, Fu Lin finally felt relieved enough to open the system screen and use the mirror function. He looked at his reflection: short purple hair, and a face as pale as a corpse. He fell silent.

"Did I really become Sirin's real brother?"

[Dear user, as compensation for a bug, the system gave you a spare body and a world task scroll, which will be stored in your system space after the mission is completed.]

"...Couldn't you have given me a better body? What good is such a weak one?" Fu Lin glared at the customer support message that appeared, veins bulging on his forehead, but he soon felt dizzy.

[...No, and this body is not as simple as you think.]

"...Fine." Fu Lin had nothing more to say to this unreliable customer support. Complaining would be pointless and a waste of breath.

[Good that you understand...]

"(Omitted 10,000 words)"

Fu Lin, who had just calmed down, instantly blew up again at this reply.

...

"Good morning, big brother," Sirin said, snuggling closer into Fu Lin's arms, enjoying the warmth of her brother.

"...Good morning, cough cough! Sirin," Fu Lin said, looking at the girl nestled in his arms, feeling both amused and helpless.

"Big brother, I'll go reheat the leftover porridge," Sirin reluctantly pulled herself away from him and poured the now-cold porridge into the iron pot on the stove to warm it up.

Fu Lin initially wanted to decline, but seeing the hopeful look on Sirin's face, he took the porridge and sipped it.

Perhaps it was the warmth of the porridge, but Fu Lin felt his mind clearing up a bit in the freezing air.

He suddenly remembered that he had a system space—full of food... Some of it generously donated by Fu Hua, of course.

Fu Lin, '...I'm so stupid!'

"...Sirin, close your eyes. Big brother is going to perform a magic trick."

"Okay... My eyes are closed," Sirin obediently shut her eyes.

"You can open them now."

"Is this real, big brother?" Sirin opened her eyes, immediately drawn to the large, fluffy white buns on the table, their aroma making her gulp.

"Of course it's real."

"Big brother, you're amazing! You conjured so many big, white buns!" Sirin exclaimed, hugging Fu Lin and kissing him on the cheek.

Seeing Sirin's bright smile, Fu Lin felt a wave of relief, as if his body had become much stronger.

Wait! This wasn't just his imagination, was it?

Fu Lin noticed the changes in his body, feeling significantly better than before when he was weak and exhausted. Seeing Sirin's smile, he seemed to realize something and silently cursed, "Damn system, always pulling tricks like this."

So, is the mission this time to save Sirin?

"Big brother, can I share these buns with everyone?" Sirin asked, looking up at Fu Lin with the bun in her hands.

"Whatever makes you happy. My little Sirin is so kind," Fu Lin said, ruffling her hair.

"I love big brother the most!" Sirin grabbed a few buns and ran outside excitedly.

Watching her back, it was hard to imagine what kind of experiments Sirin had undergone in the Tower of Babylon to turn her from a pure angel-like girl into a cold-cruel Herrscher...

Thinking about what might happen in the future, Fu Lin couldn't help but curse Otto in his mind.

But this time, since I'm here, I must stop the tragedy from happening again...

'Ehhh... But can I really stop it with this body?'

Faced with a soul-deep question, Fu Lin fell silent.
