Chapter 11: Chapter 10: "Bottleneck"

260 AC: 2 years later; Somewhere in the Frey Territory

From afar, one could see a giant man standing tall amidst tens, if not hundreds of torn bodies of men and women, young and old. 'The servants are going to have a hard time cleaning all of this blood.' thought Walder as he looked at his armor and clothing that was drenched in the blood of hundreds. He then looks up, truly taking in the scene around him, he scanned emotionlessly at the devastation he had just rained upon this group of bandits and outlaws. As for whether they really bad people or if they only stole out of necessity? Walder neither knew, nor cared, as to him, they were just EXP and SP.

*[Congratulations Host, you have hit level 100, please receive your reward]*

Walder nods softly, as he continued to look around him, through the two years he had been in this world, how many times had he seen such a scene...the answer was many, many times. In order to level up in the most efficient way, and also make sure that the arrival of workers and trade was undisturbed, within his territory at least,  Walder had taken it upon himself and fifty of his knights to conduct a routine...cleansing, for a lack of a better word. During these two years, Walder has taken the lives of hundreds by himself, and was responsible for even more.

Yet the realm praised him for it, all the lords, but especially the smallfolk gradually started to adore this brave and honorable warrior lord of the Crossing, who had a heart of gold to shield his people from all the vile and evil. His deeds had circulated around the Riverlands and the whole of Westeros, even possibly beyond. Why was this?

Well, Walder as a man who had lived through a time where the news and the so called legacy media had been weaponized to the point of flat out lies, knew the power that news and stories held. And since this was the realm of ASOIAF, not the modern day Earth, where information was abundant, Walder had made plans to fully utilize this to his advantage.

Walder had 'recruited' many bards, story-tellers, and even just people with high charisma or talents/skills related to speaking, had them swear an oath of allegiance through great promises of wealth, a better life, and even revenge. Walder, of course, kept all these promises. He was a villain, not a modern day politician afterall. He had these more ordinary individuals to go around Westeros to spread stories and rumors about himself and the Crossing. This was just a phase in his plans, as after he completes the city around the Twins and the huge wall he wants to build on the borders of his territory, he will need people, and that is where he will have these bards, story-tellers and such spread the news of this prosperous city at the Crossing, ruled by a kind and honorable lord who acted like a shield for his people, warding off all the bad and terrible. But this will only come later.

Walder also planned to cultivate his own spy force, implimenting his knowledge about the 'little birds' of Varys and other types of spies. Walder also plans to have many of them stationed in each and every city, prominent noble house in Westeros, and beyond in places like Essos or Yi Ti through hiding in plain sight, or through gaining the people's trust. They are to act as a form of surveillance, but also a manipulator of the overall narrative of trending news around the realm. Although, this again, this will only come in the future. Much of the things Walder has planned and began orchestrating are still in their infancies, but Walder was in no rush, as all he had was time.

This said, Walder opens his system to collect his reward.

"Sweet." Walder grins, as he focuses on the 400 SP part of the reward, throughout the two years, Walder had come to truly realize just how valuable SP really was, as he had bought many blueprints and designs in the system shop for his vision of what the city, roads, walls and even moats would look like.

'Receive reward' Walde thought

*[Yes Host]*

"My Lord?"

Walder looks up and sees Ser Urleas Tallyn looking at him with concern. 'Well to his perspective I was just staring into empty space surrounded torn bodies of the people I just sent to the otherside.' Walder thought with amusement, then smiles and says,

"Everything is fine Urleas, have the men burn all the bodies, we don't want a plague or disease to start."

"As you command my lord." Urleas bows, and heads back to the rest of the knights, transferring the orders he had just received.

Walder then turns his attention back to his status, as he contemplates on how to assign his remaining 50 attribute points.

After some thinking, Walder decides to assign 25 APs to stamina, and 25 APs to strength. Why those two stats specifically? Well, throughout the two years Walder had not added to his stamina stat as he always felt it was sufficient, but now it was due an upgrade. As for strength? 200 strength just seems better.

*DING

Walder watches his remaining APs return to 0. Yet suddenly Walder notices an abnormality, because according to previous metrics, the addition of these attributes should have by all means pushed his OP over 7000, and therefore entering the 10-Star Tier. Which would make him on par with the weakened lesser god R'hllor. But his OP remained at 6999.

"System, why have I not broken through to the 10-Star Tier and my OP remains at 6999."

*[Host, as you know, the scaling of OP quantifies the more tangible data that can be put into more simplified and visual representations, such as the skill, talent, and stats, etc. But it cannot qualify experience and split-second decision-making. This is a similar issue to that.

Until now, the system has been able to quantify your data using the tangible information it has on you, this was due to you being still within the 'weaker' realms and the fact you are a 0-Star Tier Humanoid Species, or Human. As a 0-Star Tier Humanoid, there actually should be no possible way for you to achieve your level of strength without learning supernatural powers, magic or aura. You as a 0-Star Tier Humanoid should have a clear strength ceiling, of course there are exceptions of extreme talent, like Reyanna Ironmaker. Reyanna using pure talent alone, will be able to break into the 10-Star Tier Level, it is only a matter of time.

This said, the reason why your strength progressed so rapidly is due to the system's help so far. However, past the 9-Star Tier Level, the system can no longer provide the same assistance. Your presence is already an anomaly, as OP is not actually directly correlated with your stats, it is an abstract measure that cannot be explained in simple terms for understanding.

So in order for Host to progress further, you will need to figure out alternative methods to do so, your stats and skills will still continue to climb, but will no longer be the sole indicator of the OP, Attack and Defense]*

"I see." Walder nods, not angry or upset. As in his opinion, this was very reasonable, his rapid rise in power has actually caused him great concern in recent years, as he personally did not have full confidence in catching up to R'hllor, no not even R'hllor, but the Night King in a two year time frame. Knowing that it was due to the system's assistance, so he could bypass the usual method of measuring OP, Walder was already quite content.

"System, you previously mentioned that OP does not necessarily mean everything, why is that exactly?"

*[Yes Host, OP does not necessarily translate to who would win a fight, this is true on the lower tiers, but especially true on the higher tiers. While OP represents strength, things like how well does your skills and experience stack up against your foes does indeed matter. Or maybe a split moment of carelessness that allows someone of a lower OP deliver a strike that otherwise could be avoided that may prove fatal. So while OP should be taken into account, it is not be the sole factor of consideration. You also have to take into account of your opponents species, whether they have divinity, magic, or aura. Or whether they have an ultimate skill in their otherwise mediocre arsenal]*

Walder nods in understanding, as he hears approaching footsteps. "My Lord, everything has been completed."

Walder turns to Urleas, and gave a nod of acknowledgement. "Good work Urleas, now let's head back."

"Yes my lord." Urleas again says with upmost respect.

Walder then with the rest of his knights mount up on their giant warhorses, and they take a last look at their handiwork, before urging the horses to ride towards the Crossing.
