The journey to Maywill was torture, for Roven of course. Because he was a fairy, he couldn't wait to spread his wings. He often imagines how life would be so easy if Mathias had shown some authority over his helper, but what could he have done? This helper was far more annoying and his friend's only hope.
"How far are we?", Roven asked with complete exhaustion. It's been years since he rode a horse.
"Just a few more hours", replied Rosette. She was navigating her compass, the needle spun until it turned west. "Believe me, we are almost there".
"Believe me, we are almost there," I have been hearing for the last two days. God!", he turned to Mathias. "If anything to us, you are taking the blame".
The journey continued for another two hours. Slowly the path started getting narrower, the trees began to disappear and mist began to rise. That's when they all know, they have arrived at the wind point.
"This is it", Rosette said as she got off the horse. She walked near the dead-end wall which looked more like a mountain rock. Mathias followed her, as well as Roven who had concerns about all this.
"U sure you're leading the right path missy, you better not try something fishy", Roven adjusted his tone to somewhat suspicious.
"Two against one, I'm not that stupid, Menace".
"What did you call me!". Roven burst into anger. "Not now Roven", Mathias pulled him by the shoulder, "She is right, she is not stupid to go against us", he reassured him.
Rosette stepped towards the rock and placed her hand at the center crack. She recited the incantation by heart, which showed different wordings ignited on the wall. The reciting shined only to widen the crack which opened up a passageway.
The two Jade fairies were in shock to see what they had witnessed. "Do you possess magic, miss Qain?". Mathias asked with hope. Roven tried to budge in but was too late.
"No general, my relative lives here. She happens to be studying magic so this is her work".
"But this still doesn't answer my question".
Rosette with calm said, "Sir, this is a human incantation, only humans can perform it, think of it as an invention. We do not possess magic but other materials can".
"I see", said Mathias while trying to process what was explained to him. The funny part is that's all half a lie. Humans don't possess magic and neither do materials. You need a fairy, mage, or wizard to place an incantation.
Sadly Roven didn't buy her lies. He looked at her with a huge disbelief. She sighed and continued her way leading the two Jade fairies behind her.
For five minutes they walked the tunnel under the mountain, slowly watching their steps. Roven walks close to Rosette and uses insight incantation to talk to her from her mind.
"Hey missy, you better explain yourself", Rosette heard Rovens voice in her head, she was completely scared for a second, but soon calmed herself since she knew what was happening. "Insight incantation, I'm guessing this conversation leads to me using magic".
"Listen, I know you're trying to help, but this is too much". (Roven)
"What is. That I can use magic or that I lied". (Rosette)
"From the very first day I met you, I thought what we _ no, I was dealing with was a weakling human, but now it seems that you are nothing near a human". (Roven)
"Listen, I'm trying to help you, so just trust me". (Rosette)
"Oh, I totally trust you! What else could possibly be more important for me to do?". (Roven)
"Your sarcastic remark shows your consideration". (Rosette)
"What are yo_".
Before Roven could think, the ground began to crumble, and the dead-end limestone wall formed a crack that began to open wide. It made a gate that finally allowed the light to enter.
Mathias stepped forward with Rosette to see a clear view of what lay behind the walls—the sound of people chattering in different crowds. The bright-colored tents stocked up, showing their sales, and the smell of barbeque spread the air, causing Roven's stomach to grumble.
They both turned to him with plain expressions. Roven held his stomach tight, waiting for it to stop. "Don't look at me like that; I haven't eaten for hours."
The travelers walked along the way to the bazaar. Colliding with people was no big deal for them, but Roven's certain urge to push them couldn't be ignored.
"Hey! Watch where you're going", yelled a man after pushing Rosette by the shoulder. His face was filled with ignorance which showed no interest to the crew. "Well", he waited, "Aren't you going to apologize?", he asked like it was his fault.
Rosette with a calm nerve didn't wish for further trouble, her only reasonable option was to bow her head for forgiveness. As soon as she was about to, someone interrupted her.
"Hey sir, you do know it was your fault for bumping into her", Roven said as he stepped forward. "After all, she's a young woman; it would be nice to see a bit more respect in the way you treat her".
Rosette couldn't believe what she was hearing from Roven's mouth. The word 'Respect' doesn't suit him a bit, but now he was acting all caring all of a sudden, like in the past conversations she had with him never happened.
"What did you say you damn bra_", before the man could respond, Mathias stepped forward, blocking Rosette's view. The man couldn't shutter a single word and left.
They continued their walk past the bazaar to an isolated fenced house in the village's eastern region. After a long time, Rosette finally felt the ocean breeze, the fresh air, and the view. She missed it, but as much as she did, she was also fond of one particular_.
"OH MY GOD! ROSEY!", cried Cara from the front door.
Person.
Mathias and Roven were shocked by what they heard. Cara's voice was high enough for the village people to hear her. She stepped out of the lawn and ran towards Rosette at high speed, some might think she was running in a marathon.
Cara jumped over the fence to give a warm hug to Rosette who still couldn't decide what she should tell to Cara.
"Our dear Rosey traveled all the way here to see me, it makes me happy", Cara said with tears in her eyes. Rosette couldn't react to this cheezy line, instead, she reminded Cara that they were not alone.
"Cara. These are my friends", Rosette gestured towards Mathias and Roven. "They need help, it's complicated but one of my friends is under a curse, so I was wondering if you know how to heal him?".
Cara waited. She started narrowing her brown eyes towards Mathias which made him feel irritated. "Okay", she said as she walked towards the house. Rosette followed her with her crew.
Cara's house interior was different than Rosette's. The walls were painted lilac purple and there was no furniture present to sit or to sleep. "Well make yourselves at home, I'm taking Rosey for a bit, I hope you boys don't mind?".
Without their answer, she took Rosette upstairs to the mirror room. Rosette was greeted with a large mirror almost the size of the wall. "Obsidian", said Cara after locking the door.
"It's beautiful", added Rosette.
"Oh please, this beauty needed ten days of polishing, it should be thankful that I gave it a shine, or you know what I had done to it".
"How much did you pay for it", questioned Rosette.
"Oh I don't know, but what I do want to know is why the hell are you with Dark Jade Faires?".
