Chapter 32: So Close: Trapped

The chill and dampness of the air inside the warehouse clung to Isabella's skin as she and Leon wove deeper into the maze of shipping containers and crates. Muted city sounds outside grew to be Oblivion, leaving the macabre silence of the warehouse and the rhythmic pounding of her heartbeat in her ears.

She turned to Leon; Leon's face was unreadable, his gaze sharp to leave nothing out of sight. Every step taken seemed measured, each shadow a threat. Derek's distraction had bought them time, but Isabella knew it wouldn't last long. They needed to find what they came for and get out before anyone would even notice.
