Chapter 441: Chapter 441: The Ritual of Life’s Prayer, The Finals Begin

Despite being intrigued by Su Ming's recent actions, the God of Destruction found it unfulfilling—he was more interested in discovering the source of Su Ming's prior surge of destructive energy. If it was Su Ming's own power, it might make him a worthy candidate for inheriting a godly mantle. However, if the Goddess of Life also took interest, he was willing to let her pursue it.

With a spark of curiosity, he turned to her. "Green, why don't you perform a divination? I'm interested to see if Su Ming could transform pure life force into destruction."

The Goddess of Life found this notion captivating, quickly agreeing. She initiated the Life Prayer Ritual, seeking an answer through the Life Tree.

In the next moment, the tree shone with a bright golden light—a powerful omen of great fortune.

"Purple, look," she said, smiling, "the reading is quite favorable."

Pleased with the outcome, the God of Destruction replied, "Good. Let's continue observing Su Ming. The Spirit Master Tournament finals are starting soon, and we'll get to see his true strength."

A few days later, the much-anticipated Spirit Master Tournament finals commenced.

To accommodate the finals, Spirit City had established a grand arena right at its center. This massive, circular platform—built entirely of granite—spanned nearly a hundred meters in diameter. Strengthened by an array of soul devices, it could withstand any attack below that of a Spirit Sage without damage.

Originally, Bibi Dong hadn't considered such fortification necessary. But with the frightening power demonstrated by Su Ming and other formidable contestants like Hu Liena, she had opted for reinforcement to endure any Spirit Sage-level attacks. She even felt it might still be inadequate; after all, Su Ming's fully unleashed Susanoo could cleave a Semi-God like Yu Yuan into pieces in one blow. While she herself could achieve the same result, she knew it wouldn't come as easily—unless she drew on the power of the Rakshasa God.

Just before the finals, she had finally passed the Rakshasa God's seventh trial, allowing her partial access to divine powers and control over thirty percent of the power within the Pure Heart Pearl.

Dugu Bo, glancing at the grand arena, chuckled, "Little monster, do you think this platform can withstand one of your full-power attacks? Haha!"

The scale and durability of the arena certainly highlighted Spirit Hall's abundant resources. Under typical circumstances, a platform capable of withstanding Spirit Sage-level attacks would have been excessive for a tournament. However, this year had produced an outlier like Su Ming.

In front of the arena stood the Papal Palace. Only a kilometer away from the palace's hillside position, the top three matches of the tournament would be held there. The final victor would be crowned in front of the Pope.

Early in the morning, each academy, led by Spirit Hall officials, arrived at the arena. Each was assigned a separate rest area, far surpassing the accommodations provided by the Heaven Dou Empire.

Once they reached their designated area, Dugu Bo was summoned to draw lots. He returned shortly after, his face inscrutable.

"So, who's our first opponent?" Su Ming asked, eager to finally participate. This was his chance to go all-out against novice opponents, something he'd always been curious about.

The other members of the Heaven Dou team looked expectantly at Dugu Bo. After waiting so long, they were just as excited to compete. They hoped their first opponent would be relatively weak, allowing them, as substitutes, a chance to enter the fray.

Dugu Bo said calmly, "Your first match will be against Canghui Academy."

"Canghui Academy?" some teammates murmured. As the fifth-ranking team from the Heaven Dou region, Canghui was known to be no pushover.

"Captain, can we play in this match?" Yu Feng and a few others eagerly asked, their eyes lighting up.

Seeing their overconfidence, Su Ming shook his head slightly. They clearly hadn't encountered Canghui's Seven-in-One Fusion Technique, which could potentially render them dazed if they underestimated it.

"Alright then. Here's the lineup: Yu Feng, Oslo, Shi Mo, Shi Mo, Ning Rongrong, Xiao Wu, and myself," Su Ming said decisively.

"What? Captain, you're joining us? But if you're on the field, we won't even get a chance to do anything," Yu Feng replied with a hint of disappointment.

Unconvinced, Dugu Yan chimed in, "Su Ming, if you're going, why not let me join? I want to compete too!"

Su Ming shrugged, unbothered by her challenge. His role in the match wasn't to dominate; rather, he was there as a safety net, while testing the team's resilience. Both Xiao Wu and Ning Rongrong had undergone mental training with him and possessed substantial spiritual power, especially Ning Rongrong. He was curious to see if they could withstand Canghui's Seven Shura Illusion Technique on their own.

As for Dugu Yan, despite being a Spirit King, her spiritual strength hadn't yet reached a level capable of countering such a technique, which demanded a Spirit Emperor's mental prowess to withstand.

"As the team captain, my decision stands. I'm here to cover you. You'll have your chance next match," he said, flashing a faint smile that made Dugu Yan shiver. She knew that look all too well—Su Ming was definitely up to something.

Chapter 442: Chapter 442: The Seven Asura Illusion, an Excited Yu Xiaogang

Suddenly, Dugu Yan realized something as she glanced at the carefree expressions on Yu Feng and his team. Could Su Ming have planned this on purpose?

Yu Feng and the others were all Spirit Ancestors, and they thought Canghui Academy was too weak, so Su Ming seemed intent on giving them a solid lesson. Su Ming himself would act as a safeguard, aiming only to impart an important lesson.

Seeing this, Dugu Yan couldn't help but pity Yu Feng and his teammates. She wondered what they'd feel after experiencing Canghui Academy's Seven Asura Illusion firsthand.

The finals didn't have the grandiose opening ceremony one might expect, and Pope Bibi Dong didn't make an appearance to speak. Everything was handled simply—a red-robed bishop of Spirit Hall took the stage to announce the official start of the finals and reveal the match-ups and byes. This time, the Star Luo team drew the bye.

To Su Ming's surprise, the number of spectators was enormous. Not only was the platform sturdier than he remembered from the original story, but it seemed the seating arrangements had expanded as well.

Su Ming vaguely recalled that most spectators were spirit masters, just a few thousand of them, mainly from Spirit Hall. But now, Spirit Hall had built several spectator stands around the arena, accommodating tens of thousands of people with ease. He had no idea what Bibi Dong's intentions were in creating such a large, free venue for commoners to watch. Given the cost, it didn't seem necessary for a tournament held only once every five years. But Su Ming admired Bibi Dong's boldness; this setup allowed commoners to enjoy the competition, too, enhancing the sense of unity.

However, Bibi Dong had more in mind than just attracting commoners. Since learning that Tang San could potentially be an evil spirit master, she had prepared a dual strategy. If her initial attempt to eliminate him failed, she planned to ruin Tang San's and the Clear Sky Clan's reputations. Furthermore, with Yu Xiaogang here, she intended to release damning information about him during the tournament, letting the people know that the so-called "Grandmaster" was merely a facade—a theorist whose ideas were copied without giving credit and who claimed them as his own.

Meanwhile, Yu Xiaogang sat glumly in the stands, watching the Thunderclap Academy match, unaware of the storm about to hit him.

"Alright, it's our turn," Su Ming said to his teammates. "Hope you guys put on a good show," he added, eyeing Yu Feng and the others with a knowing smile.

By now, Dugu Yan and Xiao Wu could tell what Su Ming intended. The poor guys—they'd likely get a rude awakening from Canghui Academy's special technique.

On the battlefield, Canghui Academy's captain recognized Su Ming and Xiao Wu. Though the other team members hadn't been there when Tang San's group fought, Su Ming's association with Shrek was enough.

The referee called out, "Begin!"

At the call, both teams unleashed their spirit power, filling the arena with brilliant displays of martial spirits and spirit rings.

Seeing Heaven Dou's team and their powerful spirit rings, Canghui's captain was taken aback. "They…they actually have two Spirit Kings! And the rest are all Spirit Ancestors!"

"Captain, are we about to get eliminated in the first round?" a teammate murmured.

Canghui's captain frowned, seeing the two black fifth spirit rings around Su Ming and Xiao Wu. Rumors had said that Heaven Dou's captain and vice-captain might be Spirit Kings, but he hadn't expected two of them.

Even worse, their teacher, Shi Nian, was nowhere to be found; he had left, supposedly to "deal with" Tang San's team, and hadn't returned. Canghui's captain feared that their teacher might have met a tragic end.

Then, he decided to address Su Ming directly. "Hey, have you seen Shi Nian? He's our lead instructor."

Su Ming raised an eyebrow. "Oh, yeah, I did see him. Unfortunately, he was killed by a Titled Douluo."

Canghui's captain didn't seem shocked. He knew their instructor's strength, strong enough to handle Spirit Douluos with ease, so a Titled Douluo's involvement sounded plausible.

With a wicked smile, he taunted, "Well then, I won't waste my breath. Get ready to experience our greatest technique!"

Knowing they couldn't win by ordinary means, he chose to deploy their trump card—their seven-man fusion skill. Su Ming and Xiao Wu might be tough Spirit Kings, but one good hit would disable them, and the Spirit Ancestors on their team would likely be left dazed.

"Heh, well, as long as they don't die, we'll be fine!"

He grinned evilly, shouting, "Seven Asura Illusion!"

In a coordinated move, Canghui's seven members raised their gemstone spirits high, filling the entire arena with a burst of radiant, multicolored light.

"You're the first to face our Seven Asura Illusion, Heaven Dou Team! Victory is ours!" Canghui's captain boasted triumphantly.

The crowd fell silent in astonishment, all eyes riveted on the rare sight of a seven-man fusion skill. Even the referee, standing at the edge of the arena, was rendered speechless—he had never seen such a skill before.

Nearby, Dugu Bo frowned slightly. While he wasn't worried about Su Ming, who could handle a Spirit Emperor-level illusion with ease, the rest of the team might struggle. Now he understood why Su Ming had told them to stay alert and not let their guard down; Su Ming had anticipated this tactic all along.

Meanwhile, one person was particularly thrilled—Yu Xiaogang, who sat with a severed arm and no spirit power.

"Ha! I was right! Shi Nian's notes on the Seven-in-One Fusion Technique were correct!" he exulted.
