Could Yu Xiaogang admit that all he wanted was to find a powerful woman to support him? His martial spirit was essentially useless, he could never break past level 30, and so, his only option was to live off someone stronger. He never imagined he'd succeed with both Bibi Dong and Liu Erlong.
As Bibi Dong prepared to strike again, he panicked, blurting out, "I wanted to live off a woman!"
After this confession, he felt drained, sighing as if resigned to his fate.
"In truth, I entered Spirit Hall under the pretense of studying, and since they saw me as the son of the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan's leader, they let me stay. Once inside, I learned theory while scouting for a target. Over time, I found my ideal candidate—you."
"You were so pure and innocent, it was obvious you hadn't seen much of the world. I decided that if I flaunted my knowledge and added a bit of charm, you'd be intrigued. And it worked. Eventually, we got closer. Then, when you asked about my martial spirit, I knew it was time to play the sympathy card. I sold you a story about how I studied theory to compensate for my weak spirit, how my family looked down on me… and you felt sorry for me."
"Enough!" Bibi Dong's voice was cold and sharp.
Hearing his retelling of their past only filled her with rage and disgust. How could she have been so naive back then? She'd even considered leaving Spirit Hall with him, a betrayal she still regretted.
In the years since, Bibi Dong had reflected on her actions. Even though Qian Xunji had violated her, she now understood her betrayal of Spirit Hall had been inexcusable. Spirit Hall had invested so much in her, intending for her to serve them. Looking back, she realized that Qian Xunji, despite his failings, had never actually restrained her afterward. He'd allowed her to train in Slaughter City, even though she could have used the opportunity to escape.
Even now, Bibi Dong saw Qian Xunji's actions as a mystery. Why go through so much trouble? He could've simply exposed Yu Xiaogang's true nature, even killed him, to keep her loyal. Qian Xunji knew well how important a woman's honor was, and he hadn't needed to resort to such methods.
While she couldn't fully understand his motives, she sensed a larger scheme at play, with herself as a mere pawn. But that was something to investigate later; for now, Yu Xiaogang was her priority.
"Yu Xiaogang," she sneered, "I know why you're here, but you don't know, do you? Your precious disciple, Tang San, is likely already dead on his way to Spirit City! How does that make you feel?!" Bibi Dong's mocking laugh echoed in the room.
Yu Xiaogang's face went pale, and he shouted in panic, "Bibi Dong! What do you mean? Did you send someone to kill him? Don't you realize his father is Tang Hao?!"
"Of course I know. That's exactly why I plan to kill both Tang Hao and your disciple. Do you even understand the damage Tang Hao has done to Spirit Hall over the years?" Her voice was laced with disdain.
"I don't care about that! You have no right to harm Tang San—he's my disciple! Have you no regard for our past?" Yu Xiaogang's anger flared.
Thud! Her scepter struck him, her voice a frigid whisper. "Past? What past do we have left? I'm being more than generous. If your dear Erlong were here, she'd probably kill you on the spot."
Yu Xiaogang broke into a cold sweat, confused by how differently things had turned out. Why had Erlong acted so violently toward him at Blue Tyrant Academy?
Yu Xiaogang initially felt nervous, but the thought of Tang Hao reassured him. After all, Tang Hao had been almost fully healed by the top healing spirit masters of his clan. With his level 95 Title Douluo strength and the secret techniques of the Clear Sky Clan, who could stand against him unless a level 97 Title Douluo intervened?
Noticing Yu Xiaogang's calm, Bibi Dong said coldly, "This time, I've sent five Title Douluos."
"Do you really think Tang Hao can hold his own against five Title Douluos? Even if he can take on three, could he handle five?"
Yu Xiaogang's pupils shrank in shock. "Bibi Dong, has Spirit Hall truly mobilized five Title Douluos just for Tang Hao? Just how many Title Douluos does Spirit Hall have? Your ambitions must be boundless!"
He speculated that, with its recruitment of civilian and talented spirit masters alike, Spirit Hall was finally revealing its true intentions. By his estimate, Spirit Hall must have at least ten Title Douluos to deploy five at once. Counting those five along with Bibi Dong and Qian Daoliu, that already made seven Title Douluos!
Now, all Yu Xiaogang could do was silently pray that his father and the healing spirit master accompanying him hadn't returned to the clan and were instead traveling with Thunder Academy to Spirit City. Otherwise, Tang Hao would truly be in dire straits.
Although Tang Hao's team might still include Title Douluos like Dugu Bo and Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Clan's Ning Fengzhi and Sword Douluo, they were allied with Su Ming. Would they help Tang Hao and Tang San? Clearly not.
What Yu Xiaogang didn't know was that Ning Fengzhi, led by Chen Xin, had already set off for Gengxin City. Bibi Dong had dispatched a Title Douluo to Gengxin City to wipe out the Spirit Hall sub-hall there. She intended to show the Blacksmiths Association and Su Ming her resolve.
When that Title Douluo saw the details of the Gengxin City branch's misdeeds, he finally understood. The branch's actions were in direct opposition to Spirit Hall's principles. After executing all personnel there, he presented the sub-hall leader's head to Lou Gao, the head of the Blacksmiths Association, along with a sincere apology.
Despite being a Title Douluo, he was forced to apologize to a Spirit Douluo, leaving Lou Gao both surprised and curious. Spirit Hall's respectful approach hinted at a broader agenda.
Reflecting on the Title Douluo's report, Bibi Dong was satisfied. Her actions weren't just to resolve a long-standing issue; they were also intended as a gesture toward Su Ming, who would soon learn of her actions. Plus, this set the stage for bringing the Blacksmiths Association into Spirit Hall.
Inside the Pope's Palace.
With Yu Xiaogang beaten down and practically limp on the ground, Bibi Dong coldly posed her final question: "Yu Xiaogang, answer one last question for me, and I'll let you go. Deal?"
A glimmer of hope flashed across Yu Xiaogang's eyes as he quickly replied, "Go ahead!"
Bibi Dong leaned in, her tone laced with contempt, "I remember you once said: 'There's no such thing as a useless martial spirit, only useless spirit masters.' Tell me, how do you have the audacity to say such words?"
Yu Xiaogang stammered, "I... that was just to inspire others..."
"Just to inspire, you say?" Bibi Dong sneered. "So much so that you included it as one of your 'Ten Theories'? And you used it to deceive your disciple, Tang San. But Tang San's talents are exceptional. With twin martial spirits and innate full spirit power, his Blue Silver Grass is irrelevant. He would've thrived regardless. So how can you justify your own spirit power being stuck at level 29 all these years?"
Yu Xiaogang was speechless.
Bibi Dong pressed on. "If you truly believed in that motto, why didn't you take a disciple with a pure Blue Silver Grass spirit and less than level 1 innate spirit power? If you could guide such a disciple to reach Spirit King or even Spirit Ancestor, people might actually respect you!"
"Yet, how did you proceed? Tang San's talent is unparalleled on the continent. Your 'theory' has only made you a laughingstock! It's absurd!"
"Or did you really think no one noticed your little scheme? You only valued Tang San for his twin spirits, not for the Blue Silver Grass! When Tang San achieves the Title Douluo rank one day, you probably plan to announce to the world, 'Look, I'm not useless! I, Yu Xiaogang, trained a Title Douluo whose spirit was just the humble Blue Silver Grass!'"
