EDWINA
Light filtered into my closed eyelids, gentle and warm. It was a soft invitation to come back into the waking world.
I yawned, a soft smile playing on my lips as I stretched my body lazily. The room was quiet, comforting. It wrapped around me like a warm blanket.
The softness of the sheets against my skin made me reluctant to open my eyes, but I knew I had to get my day started.
Preferably with a kiss from my favourite person in the whole wide world. I snaked my hand through the sheets towards the other side of the bed in search of a warm body only to be met with…
My eyes flew open.
Kieran was not beside me.
My breath caught in my throat as I sat up, suddenly aware of the cold absence where his warmth should have been. The bed felt too big without him.
The sudden absence confused me.
Where was he? I glanced at the time to see that it was not even ten in the morning yet.
