EDWINA
I stared at Orion, my voice barely above a whisper as I struggled to contain the tremors that threatened to betray my emotions. "You're kidding, right?" I asked, my eyes scanning his face in search of any hint of jest or deception.
But there was nome. All I saw was an unyielding determination etched on his features, a resolve that sent shivers down my spine.
I folded my hands to keep them from trembling.
Orion leaned forward, his elbows resting on the table as he fixed me with an intense, burning gaze. "Do I look like I am?" he asked, his voice low and even.
Gone was the softness, the warmth and genuine affection that was always on his face whenever he was talking to me.
All I saw now was a cold, hard anger that seemed to seethe and simmer just below the surface, betrayal, and a resentment that appeared to have been building for some time.
