Chapter 55: Restart, Spider-Man! [55]
"Now! Attack!" he shouted.
Immediately, with his eyes glowing red, Xia Luo shot out webs, swinging through the temple. At the same time, Tony unleashed his full firepower, covering Thanos' entire body in a barrage of attacks.
"Boom, boom, boom!"
As the battle raged on, Thanos charged out of the fire, unfazed by the onslaught.
"Who the hell are you people?!" he roared.
"The ones who are going to kill you," Xia Luo replied.
Freed from the restraints of the electric devices, Thor's body crackled with lightning as he wielded Mjolnir, unstoppable in his fury. Every swing of his hammer was filled with the power of the god of thunder.
No, he was the god of thunder.
"Boom, boom, boom!"
Lightning exploded across the temple, causing the entire altar to tremble. Thanos' body shuddered violently under the relentless electrical assault, but he still retained his peak fighting ability.
"Die!" Thanos roared as he fought through the storm of lightning, punching Thor with a fist as big as a sandbag. The punch shattered the lightning around Thor and sent him flying. In the next instant, Thanos' head was hit by several flying shields, crashing into his skull.
"Clang, clang, clang!"
Sparks flew as Thanos' head collided with the shields. The Steves were stunned by the impact.
They had never fought Thanos before and didn't realize how terrifying he truly was.
"Damn you!" Thanos growled, turning and throwing a powerful punch. A younger Steve barely had time to raise his shield.
"Bang!"
With hundreds of tons of force slamming into the shield, Steve was sent flying over a hundred meters, crashing into the stone wall of the temple.
"Ugh!"
Steve, heavily injured, fell to his knees, coughing up blood. He was no longer able to fight.
"Hmm?" Xia Luo, who had been observing the battle, landed nearby, puzzled. He picked up the shield and tapped it, realizing that it felt different from Old Steve's shield.
"So that's it," he muttered, understanding the situation.
Not all of the Steves' shields were created equal.
Some had more vibranium content than others, leading to differences in defense. Because they were made using similar techniques, it wasn't easy to spot these differences without close inspection.
No wonder this Steve was killed so easily, even with a shield.
"Bang, bang, bang!"
In the next moment, more Steves were severely injured by Thanos, and Lizard Parker and Carter were both thrown aside. Their numbers quickly dwindled.
"Die!" Thanos roared. The air froze with his fury.
"Boom!"
Thor's hammer was knocked away, and the Mjolnir in Jane's hand exploded into a shower of light, attacking Thanos' body, but it wasn't enough to bring him down.
"Buzz~~"
Just as Thanos was unleashing his power, the Mjolnir that had fallen to the ground responded to a summons and flew into Old Steve's hand.
"Tony!" Steve shouted.
"Got it!" Tony replied.
At once, the nanotech in Tony's suit activated, channeling Steve's lightning into his back thrusters. With peak firepower, Tony unleashed a full assault on Thanos.
"Boom, boom, boom!"
Laser beams and missiles rained down on Thanos, forcing him to stumble backward until he fell into a web trap that Xia Luo had set earlier.
"Crack, crack, crack!"
Even ensnared in the trap, Thanos continued to struggle, snapping the crystalline webs with his immense strength.
Knowing that the trap wouldn't hold, Xia Luo swung onto Thanos' shoulder, and his black spider legs morphed into liquid-like tendrils that wrapped around Thanos' arms.
"Damn Spider-Man! You've really pissed me off this time!" Thanos roared, but before he could unleash his full power, Tony's nanotech hammer came crashing down on his forehead.
"Bang!"
A heavy thud echoed as Thanos' head was struck, blood slowly trickling from his forehead. A single drop slid down the side of his face as he stared at Tony in disbelief.
"How… how could you hurt me?"
"Don't be so surprised. Another version of you went through this too," Tony said, smirking.
At that moment, with the combined force of Tony's hammer and Xia Luo's web, Thanos was slammed against the stone wall, shattering it.
"Boom!"
"Crack, crack…"
Rubble flew as Thanos was embedded in the wall. Shaking his head, he struggled to stay conscious.
Before he could react, Old Steve came charging in with Mjolnir, delivering a relentless combo of hammer and shield strikes, leaving Thanos in an even more vulnerable state.
At the same time, Tony and Xia Luo closed in, and Thanos' furious roars echoed through the temple.
This young Thanos was not as powerful as the version from the movie universe, allowing the three of them to keep him suppressed.
Off to the side, Thor watched in disbelief.
"That's my hammer. How does he know how to use it better than me?" he muttered.
Loki, who had been standing by, smirked. "I bet he's been secretly practicing."
Lizard Parker limped over to Carter, holding his swollen face.
"You okay?" he asked.
Carter looked at her dented shield and shook her head slightly. "I'm fine. If I had a better shield, I could go at it all day."
"I never want to face that monster again," Parker muttered, shivering as he recalled the power of Thanos' punch.
Meanwhile, Jane Foster, holding Mjolnir, observed the battlefield.
"It's time."
Seizing the moment when Thanos stumbled, she threw Mjolnir, now covered in cracks, directly at him.
"Boom!"
Lightning surged as the hammer shattered into a storm of meteors, raining down on Thanos' body.
Old Steve and Tony followed up with more coordinated attacks, and after several rounds of firepower and hammer strikes, Thanos finally succumbed to the onslaught, passing out.
Atop the shattered altar, Xia Luo shot out a massive web, wrapping Thanos into a giant cocoon before finally breathing a sigh of relief.
"Good, we're halfway there," he said.
"Hey, kid, what's next?" Thor asked.
"No rush," Xia Luo replied, glancing at the now-cracked altar with concern.
He wasn't sure if the portal could still be activated with the altar damaged.
They would just have to try.
Soon, he found the sacred artifact hidden within the temple.
He placed the artifact in Thanos' unconscious hands and reached out to touch it himself.
In an instant, the artifact responded. A red and blue spider totem appeared on Xia Luo's chest, while Thanos' purple skin faintly glowed.
"Buzz~~"
Under everyone's watchful eyes, a purple portal finally opened.
"It worked!" Loki exclaimed with delight, rushing toward the portal, only to be yanked back by Thor.
"I'm the older brother. I go first."
"We're not even related by blood."
"At least we're cousins."
Loki: "…"
Before their argument could escalate, Xia Luo and the others had already carried Thanos through the portal.
"Damn it! They got ahead of us!" Thor cursed, charging toward the portal, only to be stopped by an invisible barrier.
"What… why is this happening?" he asked, stunned.
Loki tried as well, but he too was blocked.
His face darkened. "Why do you think? We've been played!" he growled through clenched teeth.
"And did you notice? They took our hammer too," Jane said, exasperated.
Thor: "?????"
"Damn it! Give me back my hammer!!"
