Chapter 9: Test
"Of course, I don't think everything is true. But that's why we should ask Damien, a real Earthian, for answers..." Theo started, but Cedran interrupted him again.
"And I'm saying we should first question whether this person is actually Earthian at all," Cedran said, glancing skeptically at Damien.
Damien knew he was indeed someone from Earth, but he wasn't sure he matched the "Earthian" Theo was referring to. In fact, he was almost certain he didn't. If it came down to war, he almost know nothing.
"But he's said it himself—he's come from Earth which meant he's an Earthian. What more proof do we need?" Theo insisted.
"We absolutely need more proof. With all due respect, my lord, how many times have you been deceived by con artists this way?" Cedran shot back.
"Ugh..." Theo fell silent, clearly hit by the comment.
So he had been tricked before... Damien wasn't surprised, given how overly enthusiastic Theo was.
"But... this time, I'm sure it's real!" Theo rallied. "Alright, let's start by proving Damien is an Earthian. Damien, is that alright?"
"Uh, y-yes..." Damien responded, thrown off by the sudden question.
"That said, there aren't many reliable documents about Earthian... Ah, wait!" Theo suddenly brightened as if he'd just had a great idea.
"There's a recently uncovered document mentioning a rank or title that the Earthian used to identify themselves. If you know what it is, that would prove you're Earthian, right? Right?" Theo said, looking overly excited.
"Well, it could be helpful..." Cedran said with a wry smile, clearly not as convinced as Theo, who nodded in satisfaction.
Damien thought for a moment. A title? What could it be?
Maybe... a company worker? No, that's not really a rank.
"Damien, the Earthian who came 800 years ago belonged to a warrior family. Do you know what their rank or profession might have been?" Theo asked eagerly.
A warrior family? Military background, then? That must mean...
"Uh... A Defense Force?" Damien answered hesitantly.
As soon as he said it, Theo's face immediately filled with disappointment.
Oh no, wrong answer!
Damien wracked his brain, trying to think of anything else that related to the warrior family.
The term warrior itself is rarely used in the modern Earth. So it can be meant that person comes from the ancient Earth era.
There was a lot of warrior culture in the ancient era, the only other things that came to mind were a gladiator, crusader, or martial artist, but that didn't seem quite right. Then he thought of the Janissaries, but that had been disbanded decades ago.
Wait, 800 years ago? He had to think about the warrior profession of that time period. Suddenly, something clicked. It must be from Japan—he had read about it while browsing an Earth history textbook out of boredom.
"Uh, could it be Samurai?" Damien asked cautiously.
Theo's gloomy expression instantly brightened. It seemed he had guessed correctly.
So... someone from Earth really had come to this world before? And that person was from Japan?
