Chapter Forty-Two: Death Song
The only thing in his sight was the boundless sky. The stars were beautiful, dancing in the vast expanse, but Dusken couldn't tell if it was because his head was spinning or not.
Even so, what he could tell was that two brown eyes locked on him as the soldier headed toward his location, his arm dripping blood.
In his other hand, however, was a spear, its sharp, pointed tip glistening under the moonlight.
Dusken struggled to get up. His face was bloodied, but he grinned madly as he spoke for the first time during the battle:
"Excitement. I seek excitement, and so anything exciting is great to me." His words were laced with unmistakable joy.
Ever since he had re-lived his past life through the inheritance, his emptiness of this world had intensified. Anything exhilarating was worth pursuing.
The soldier halted his steps, tilting his head and fixing Dusken with a look that spoke volumes.
