Chapter 148: A Safe Place To Sleep  

Everyone turned to stare at the woman with the clipboard as she tapped the back of her pen against the papers.

"Well?" demanded the loudmouth guard as he raised an eyebrow. "Don't leave us in suspense… how can we determine if she is bein' truthful?"

Both Candy and the other female guard snorted at his question. Turning to me, the female guard spoke. "I wish for a bag of Twizzlers the length of my arm."

There was a moment of silence as I waited for her to keep going, but no, apparently, that was her wish. Shrugging my shoulders, I said, "Deal accepted."

If she was willing to lose her soul for a bag of Twizzlers, whatever that was, then I wasn't about to say peep about it.

Within seconds, a large bag of stick candy appeared on her clipboard, almost making her drop the thing. It was somewhat funny to see her eyes widen as she dropped the clipboard and grabbed at the candy, tearing the bag open.
