Chapter 10: The Mall
Yang Liu woke up to an empty bed, the other side already cold and untouched. Rubbing her eyes, she scratched her head, wondering if she had forgotten something important. Glancing at the clock, it dawned on her that she needed to get up and take Han Wei to school once again.
After getting ready, she stepped out of her room and was greeted by Butler Ling in the hallway. She smiled at him, feeling a bit of warmth from their morning ritual.
"Good morning, madam. May I ask why you're up so early?" he inquired, a hint of curiosity in his voice.
"I have to wake Han Wei so he can get ready for school," she replied, her voice cheerful.
Butler Ling's eyebrows raised in surprise, but he nodded understandingly. As Yang Liu passed by him, he suddenly remembered something important. Tapping his own head, he called out, "Madam, wait a moment. The boss asked me to give you this card as soon as you woke up."
Yang Liu turned around, surprised, and saw the card in his hand. "Is that the famous black card?" she asked, her heart racing with excitement as it took her a moment to recover from the unexpected news.
When Butler Ling placed the card in her hand and left to attend to his duties, Yang Liu couldn't help but laugh out loud. "It's really nice to have a rich husband," she whispered to herself, a playful grin spreading across her face. "I wonder if we can be friends after the divorce?"
With her mind wandering through a mix of thoughts, she walked down the hallway distractedly, only to bump her head against the wall. "FUCK!" she shouted, rubbing her forehead in irritation.
Turning around, she spotted Han Wei standing at his bedroom door, his wide eyes reflecting surprise. Yang Liu quickly thought, "I hope he didn't hear that."
The morning passed without further incident, although Yang Liu couldn't shake the lingering bump on her forehead. Even Mrs. Su noticed, asking with concern if she was okay. Yang Liu left the school, her cheeks flushed with embarrassment, and decided to tell her driver to take her to the mall to buy a cap and some new clothes. After all, the old Yang Liu's wardrobe didn't quite fit her new life.
Upon arriving at the mall, Yang Liu felt a surge of excitement. She wandered through the stores, determined to buy everything she had always wanted but couldn't afford before. To her surprise, all the brands from her world were available here too. Once again, she found the world of this book fascinating, scratching her head in disbelief.
After a successful shopping spree, both Yang Liu and the driver were loaded with bags. She even bought a toy for Han Wei, envisioning the joy it would bring him.
As she was about to leave the mall, her gaze fell upon a store selling ties, and she stopped in front of it, contemplating.
Noticing her pause, the driver asked, "Is something wrong, madam?"
Yang Liu came back to her senses and asked, "What style of ties does Han Chen usually wear?"
The driver answered honestly, "The boss prefers ties in neutral tones."
Nodding in understanding, Yang Liu headed into the store. Five minutes later, she emerged with a small bag in hand. The driver remained silent, leading her back to the car without a word.
Once inside the vehicle, Yang Liu's phone vibrated, pulling her attention. She reached into her bag to grab it, and her heart sank a little when she saw the message.
MOTHER:
"Yang Liu, when are you bringing your husband and son to dinner at our house? Mommy and Daddy miss you."
Yang Liu sighed softly, feeling a mix of nostalgia and pressure. She smiled at the thought of her family but knew that navigating this new life would take time.
