The heavy wooden doors creaked as Zoe pushed them open, the throne room yawning before her like a cavernous maw.
She stepped cautiously inside, her eyes narrowing as they adjusted to the dim lighting.
She expected something monstrous, something out of the nightmares that had chased her through the Shard they had encountered.
Instead, her gaze fell on a figure lounging casually on a grand, shadow-draped throne.
He looked almost perfect, too perfect.
His outfit was finely tailored, fit for some royal court, and his hair fell in perfect waves.
He wore a charming, almost boyish smile that radiated confidence, and the entire image screamed "romance novel prince." That alone put Zoe on edge.
He inclined his head slightly, his gaze locking onto her.
"I am Aden," he said, his tone dripping with charm. "Ruler of this domain, and soon, perhaps, the ruler of much more."
Hey everyone! Thanks for sticking around for this intense chapter—it's always fun throwing a charming yet utterly creepy villain into the mix. Aden is definitely proving to be more than just a typical baddie, with his illusions and charisma almost getting the best of Zoe. I wanted to explore what happens when the danger isn't just physical but also psychological, and I'm really enjoying watching Zoe fight her way through it. I hope you felt the tension ramp up as much as I did writing it!
What did you think of Aden's reveal? And Zoe’s ability to snap out of it? I'd love to hear your thoughts and theories on what might happen in the next stages of this showdown!
As always, Snacks and the team's support are vital here, and the teamwork feels more necessary than ever. Stay tuned—things are about to get even more intense!
