Chapter 7: Unspoken

As Sarah sat in the meeting room, her mind drifted back to the unsettling encounter with the mystery man. She tried to focus on Mr. Travis's words, but the memory clung to her like a shadow. Just then, Mr. Travis's voice cut through her thoughts, strong and commanding.

"Looks good. Let's go with the plan," he stated, his tone leaving no room for disagreement. "I need a draft copy of the manuscripts with the editors' comments. Do send it to my office immediately. Mr. Travis, schedule a meeting with the author to know when the next chapters will be coming. Do it personally, and I want a report on it today itself."

The authority in his voice reverberated through the room, creating an atmosphere thick with expectation. Sarah felt the energy shift as everyone around the table straightened in their seats, and she noticed the way even her manager seemed a little intimidated.

Sarah couldn't help but admire his confidence, but at the same time, it sent a ripple of anxiety through her. The stakes felt high, and she was acutely aware of the weight of responsibility pressing on her shoulders. She glanced around the room, observing the nods of agreement from her colleagues, each of them seemingly eager to comply with his demands.

As the meeting wrapped up, a flurry of activity filled the room. Colleagues hurried out, eager to tackle their tasks and escape the lingering intensity of Mr. Brigade's authoritative presence. Sarah made her way back to her desk, the weight of the meeting still fresh in her mind. She needed to focus on her work, but the earlier encounter with the mystery man nagged at her.

Just as she settled into her chair, flipping through her notes, Mr. Travis approached her desk, his expression a mix of urgency and determination. "Sarah," he said, his tone brisk. "I need you to do me a favor. Please take this copy of the manuscript with the editors' comments and deliver it to Mr. Brigade. And do it now."

Her heart raced at the mention of Mr. Brigade, the head honcho who commanded respect—and fear—within the office. "Okay," she replied, forcing herself to sound composed.

"I'm in a hurry; I have to meet two authors today," Mr. Travis continued, his eyes locking onto hers. "Take note of each point Mr. Brigade brings up during your meeting with him. He's very particular about his work, and I don't want you to disappoint him."

The haunting embarrassment from the library incident threatened to swallow her whole. Frightened, she took a deep breath and forced herself to focus. But it was no use—the shame kept creeping back in, invading her thoughts. She needed to confront this, to face the reality of her feelings.

Gathering her courage, Sarah stood up and made her way to Mr. Brigade's office once again. Each step felt heavier than the last, but she knew she had to address the turmoil inside her. She knocked gently on the door, her heart racing.

As Sarah approached Mr. Brigade's office, her heart raced with a mix of fear and determination. She needed to confront the feelings that had been haunting her since the library incident. But as she reached the door, she paused when she heard voices coming from inside.

Peeking through the glass, she saw Mr. Brigade engaged in conversation with a woman. She was stylish and confident, exuding an air of authority that Sarah found both intimidating and impressive. The woman was in her mid-thirties, impeccably dressed, with a commanding voice that held Mr. Brigade's attention.

"—we need to ensure that the edits are completed by the end of the week," the woman said, her tone leaving no room for argument. Sarah could see Mr. Brigade nodding, a look of respect on his face as they discussed the finer points of manuscript edits.

Feeling a sudden wave of anxiety wash over her, Sarah stood frozen outside the door. She admired the woman's confidence but felt a flicker of uncertainty. Was this what it took to succeed in this industry?

After a few moments, Mr. Brigade glanced in her direction, and with a subtle motion of his hand, he signaled for her to wait. Sarah held her breath as the woman finished her conversation. "I'll send over the revised notes this afternoon," she concluded, her voice smooth and assured.

As the woman turned to leave, she caught sight of Sarah and offered a warm smile. "You new here?" she asked, her tone friendly yet confident.

"Uh, yes," Sarah replied, feeling slightly flustered. "I'm Sarah."

"Hi, I'm Mrs. Brigade, Chief Editor here," the woman introduced herself, extending her hand. Her smile was genuine, and she radiated an effortless charm. Sarah shook her hand, feeling a mixture of awe and discomfort.

Then it hit her like a ton of bricks: Mrs. Brigade? The realization crashed over her, and she felt as if the ground had been swept out from under her. This woman, who appeared to have it all together, was married to the very man she had been so intimidated by. The very same man who has tasted her cum from his fingers, A rush of shame and shock coursed through her veins.

Sarah struggled to process the implications of this revelation. She felt disoriented, caught in a whirlwind of emotions. The last bit of confidence she had managed to muster began to slip away.

she had unknowingly got involved in this, the man who has invoked desires within her was married.

"Nice to meet you, Sarah. I look forward to seeing what you bring to the team," Mrs. Brigade said, her voice cheerful as she exited the office. " Mrs brigade said to her.

Sarah stood there, stunned, as the door closed behind the woman. With her heart racing and her mind swirling, she turned to face Mr. Brigade, who was watching her intently. uncertainty washed over her. Would she be able to separate her personal feelings from her professional obligations? She had to stay away from Mr. Brigade at any cost.

Sarah stood there awkwardly, the air thick with tension, as Mr. Brigade had asked her to stay. She could feel his penetrating stare, an unsettling mixture of authority and expectation. Each passing second felt like an eternity, and the silence between them grew heavier.

Her heart raced, and her palms felt clammy as she shifted on her feet. What was he waiting for? Did he want to discuss the meeting further, or was there something more personal on his mind? The uncertainty gnawed at her, amplifying her anxiety. She tried to gather her thoughts, but words eluded her, slipping through her fingers like sand.

Time seemed to stretch, and the only sound in the room was the faint ticking of the clock on the wall. She glanced around, desperately seeking something to focus on other than the intensity of Mr. Brigade's gaze. The shelves filled with manuscripts and the dim light felt suffocating, each detail amplifying her discomfort.

The tension crackled in the air, and Sarah could almost feel it wrapping around her, constricting her chest. She took a deep breath, trying to steady herself, but it only heightened her awareness of the moment.

When Sarah finally mustered the courage to look at Mr. Brigade, she found his eyes sparkling with mischief, a glint that sent a shiver down her spine. He raised a finger and motioned her to come closer. Heart pounding, she stepped forward, her pulse quickening with every step. What was he going to say?

As she reached his desk, Mr. Brigade continued to watch her, a ghost-like smile playing on his lips. The silence stretched uncomfortably between them, and she felt the heat rising in her cheeks. He seemed to take his time, analyzing her, and it made her feel exposed.

After what felt like an eternity, he pointed to the chair opposite him. "Sit," he instructed, his voice steady and calm.

Sarah obeyed, her legs trembling as she settled into the chair. She wiped her sweaty palms on her skirt, trying to calm her nerves. The intensity of his gaze made it hard to focus, and she could feel her heart racing as she awaited his next command.

He extended his hand toward her, and she quickly handed over the manuscript. The moment their fingers brushed sent a jolt through her, but he didn't say a word. Instead, he opened the document and began flipping through the pages, his expression inscrutable.

Feeling the weight of his silence, Sarah sat awkwardly, her body tense. She tried to maintain her composure, but it was a struggle. The minutes ticked by slowly as she squirmed in her seat, acutely aware of the heat radiating from her skin.

She couldn't shake the feeling that she was under scrutiny, as if he was weighing her worth by the second. Every turn of the page made her more anxious, and the quiet between them felt charged. What was he thinking? Why did this moment feel so loaded?
