Chapter 22: Black Rain
Mo Chenxuan drove through the villa gate at quarter past seven.
Seeing the house, Qin Wu smiled, feeling relaxed.
'It's too bad we can't collect this villa.' She thought, looking at the villa with nostalgic eyes.
After parking the car in the garage, Mo Chenxuan rubbed the back of Qin Wu's hand and smiled.
"Let's go in." He said, and Qin Wu nodded.
A moment later, the two entered the house and closed the door.
"It's good to be home." Qin Wu subconsciously muttered.
"Mmmh." Mo Chenxuan agreed, pulling the woman into his arms.
"Don't worry. We will have a good home in city B." He assured.
"Home is not just a house. Home is a good house where you and I live together." Qin Wu said in a solemn voice, and Mo Chenxuan nodded.
"I understand."
Soon after, Mo Chenxuan pulled away from Qin Wu and looked at his wristwatch.
"The black rain will start at around eight. We should make sure all the windows and doors are properly closed before then." He said.
Thinking of the black rain, Qin Wu sighed.
"I hope people took your post seriously and will avoid the rain at all costs."
"I did my best. The rest is up to everyone else." Mo Chenxuan said.
After checking the windows and doors, Mo Chenxuan and Qin Wu showered, changed their clothes, and went downstairs.
Since it was almost eight, the two sat near the window and looked outside.
"What's on your mind?" Mo Chenxuan suddenly asked.
"Even if we don't collect more supplies from now on, we have enough to run a small city for more than a decade. We also have livestock, cars, and prefabricated structures."
Thinking of the prefabricated structures, Qin Wu smiled.
She and Mo Chenxuan originally hoped to collect prefab villas, capsule homes and hotels.
However, they got so much more.
Not only did they get prefab villas, capsule homes, and capsule hotels, but also prefab warehouses, office buildings, schools, apartments, livestock sheds, portable toilets, and many other structures.
"I didn't expect prefab structures had already reached this level." Qin Wu muttered.
"Neither did I." Mo Chenxuan said.
Although his Mo group had diversified businesses, Mo Chenxuan had yet to venture into the construction business.
Because of this, his understanding of prefabricated structures was limited.
Unexpectedly, when he was not paying attention, prefabrication had evolved from capsule homes to multi-storey buildings and other sophisticated structures.
"Anyway, we have enough structures to not only house ourselves and our livestock but also thousands of other people."
"Mmmh." Mo Chenxuan nodded in agreement.
"We are only lacking gasoline, weapons, and vegetables." Qin Wu said.
On their way back from the fulfilment centre, the two tried to get gasoline.
Unfortunately, the city T government had already taken over the various gas stations.
That said, ordinary citizens could still buy gasoline.
However, the price was high, and the amount was limited.
When they saw the situation, Mo Chenxuan and Qin Wu didn't bother.
Still, their situation wasn't too bad.
"We have collected almost five thousand cars since the apocalypse began." Mo Chenxuan started.
"When we siphon all the fuel, we shouldn't get less than one hundred and fifty thousand litres of gasoline."
"We also plan to take the YS Petrochemicals refinery mission." Qin Wu added, and Mo Chenxuan nodded before he continued.
"We now have some livestock sheds and can properly house the animals. After that, we will use the rest of your space to plant vegetables."
"You are right. We got many seeds from the mall and probably have more among the T-shop supplies. Vegetables are indeed already covered."
Hearing that, Mo Chenxuan took out a map and laid it on his lap.
"This is a map of city B and its surroundings." Qin Wu said, and Mo Chenxuan nodded.
Pointing at a location on the map, he said in a solemn voice, "We will go here for weapons".
When she heard that, Qin Wu looked at the location and frowned.
"This place is relatively close to city B. Shouldn't the government have already seized the armoury?"
"It's not a government depot." Mo Chenxuan said and quickly explained.
"This place was accidentally discovered in my previous life. It belongs to an arms dealer."
"How come I didn't hear of the discovery?"
"It was the eleventh year of the apocalypse. By then, guns were no longer useful against zombies, so..."
"What about the owner?"
"Maybe they died or weren't in the country when the apocalypse began. I don't know the details. I only know that no one was in the depot when the weapons were discovered."
"A good thing for us." Qin Wu smiled, and Mo Chenxuan nodded before he spoke.
"We can go there after we settle in city B."
"Okay. Let's..." Qin Wu started, but Mo Chenxuan interrupted, pointing outside.
"It's about to rain." He said.
Less than a minute later, the skies opened, and heavy rain poured out.
At the same time, excited grunts reverberated in the villa area.
"This marks the actual beginning of the apocalypse." Qin Wu stated, leaning onto Mo Chenxuan's shoulder.
"Mmh." Mo Chenxuan agreed.
After that, the two silently watched the rain for an hour before entering Qin Wu's space.
Until two in the morning, Mo Chenxuan and Qin Wu didn't rest.
First, they used prefab fences to demarcate two acres of farmland.
After that, they set up the livestock sheds and led the different animals into their different sheds.
Following that, they fed and watered the animals before going into the storage warehouse.
Compared to setting up the fence and livestock sheds, arranging the warehouse goods was a lot easier, and they soon moved to Mo Chenxuan's storage warehouse to do the same.
Unfortunately, they could only enter one of his spaces.
"We can take our time to arrange my big space." Mo Chenxuan said, and Qin Wu nodded.
"The cars are in your big space. We can begin taking them out to siphon fuel starting tomorrow."
"Good." Mo Chenxuan agreed.
After that, the two had a shower and slept in each other's arms on Mo Chenxuan's bed.
