Chapter 15: Collecting Supplies 1
In summer, the sun rose before five and set after seven.
Knowing this, Mo Chenxuan wanted to make the best of the long day.
After leaving his space, he and Qin Wu separately showered, got ready for the day, and sat down for breakfast.
"The sun will rise in another hour. I want us to be on our way before it does." Mo Chenxuan said and produced a map from his space.
"The government issued directives, and more people will be looking for supplies today." Qin Wu said and soon continued.
"Although city T doesn't have a large military presence, it has a sizeable number of police officers. Chances are, the mayor will control the major supply points."
"That's why we are going to avoid the obvious places." Mo Chenxuan said.
"What do you mean?"
"These three places are our top priority." Mo Chenxuan circled three places on the map.
At a glance, Qin Wu recognised one of the locations.
"This is the location of the Mo group's mall." She stated.
"The mall was supposed to open in five weeks but has already been stocked. Excluding perishables like vegetables and meat, it has everything."
"Because the mall hasn't been opened, people, including the mayor's army may not think of collecting supplies from there." Qin Wu excitedly said.
"Exactly." Mo Chenxuan smiled and continued.
"If we collect everything from that mall, we will have enough supplies to last a lifetime."
"What about the other two places? What is this place?" Qin Wu pointed at a location on the map.
"Alter Ego Auto Customs." Mo Chenxuan revealed.
"The place for wealthy people to custom tune their cars?"
"That's it." The man sighed.
"Most of the customs are sports cars, but there are a few off-road vehicles. I hope we will find some good off-road vehicles there."
"Okay. What about the third place?"
"It's T-Shop's fulfilment centre."
When Qin Wu heard that, her heart skipped a beat.
T-shop was a global e-commerce platform.
Ordinarily, most people used T-shop to buy all manner of goods from vegetables to generators.
Thinking of this, Qin Wu couldn't help but be excited.
"If we collect everything from the fulfilment centre, we will have enough supplies to support a small city for several years."
"My thoughts exactly." Mo Chenxuan smiled.
"These three places are out of the way for ordinary people. The mayor's people may also not think of them for now."
At four, Mo Chenxuan and Qin Wu donned their face masks, got into their Hummer, and drove out of the villa.
Soon after, hurried feet accompanied by loud grunts came rushing towards them.
"We should clean up the villa area when we return. " Qin Wu suggested, and Mo Chenxuan nodded.
"Use your auditory superpower to survey the area." He suggested.
"Good."
After that, the two crashed past the scattered zombies and drove out of the villa area.
"The Heishe mountain pass is all clear. We won't waste time on this stretch." Qin Wu said while checking the map.
"Brother Chenxuan, let's go to the mall first." She suggested.
"Reason?"
"Although the mall is not open, many people know about it. I am worried that someone will have the same idea as us. It's best to act fast to avoid midnight worries."
"Okay." Mo Chenxuan agreed.
After exiting the Heishe mountain pass, Mo Chenxuan drove onto a service road.
'Fortunately, the apocalypse happened at four in the morning.' Qin Wu thought.
Because of this, there weren't many vehicles blocking the roads.
If it happened during rush hour...
Qin Wu didn't dare to think about that.
With some effort, the two took two hours to arrive at the Mo Group's mall.
At this time, the sun had already risen, and the zombies had begun to retreat into the shadows.
"Brother Chenxuan, what's the situation? Are there people?"
"We are in the clear." Mo Chenxuan smiled.
"Great." Qin Wu exclaimed, and the two got out of the car.
Without wasting time, they cleared the scattered zombies and went into the main building.
"Come to think of it, there seems to be a car dealership in this mall." Qin Wu recalled.
"There is, but you can't expect to find apocalypse-worthy vehicles in such a place."
The mall's first floor had a large supermarket, an optician shop, an electronics shop, a liquor store, and several restaurants.
Unfortunately, because the mall wasn't open, the restaurants only had equipment but no food.
However, Mo Chenxuan and Qin Wu didn't discriminate.
In no time, they collected everything on the first floor and climbed to the second.
The second floor had cooking ware and other household goods.
Seeing the big pots they needed, Qin Wu nodded and collected everything.
Clothes, shoes, cosmetics, jewellery, electronics, detergents, bathing soaps, lotions, tampons, cars, generators, toys, ...
Mo Chenxuan and Qin Wu collected everything, including the display shelves.
After that, they went to the warehouses and also took everything.
While leaving the mall, they collected the supply lorries and other vehicles in the parking lot.
"I feel at ease." Qin Wu sighed in relief, and Mo Chenxuan burst into laughter.
"Aren't you the same?" She questioned but didn't wait for an answer.
"We had meat, seafood, noodles and a few other things but lacked day-to-day goods. Now that we have them, I feel ready to survive."
"You are right." Mo Chenxuan said, using his thumb to rub the back of Qin Wu's hand.
"We are finally..." He started, but a loud voice interrupted his words.
"Citizens are urged to leave their houses to collect necessary supplies. While collecting supplies, avoid being scratched or bitten. When possible, kill as many zombies as you can."
"Our survival depends on everyone's cooperation. Please act cautiously while waiting for the government to establish survivor bases." The voice said.
Hearing the message, Mo Chenxuan frowned and looked at his watch.
"It's already eight. Let's go to the next place."
"Good."
Based on their location, the nearest priority point was Alter Ego Auto Customs.
Without delay, Mo Chenxuan started the car, and the two crashed their way to the company location.
However, another car appeared as their Hummer was about to stop at the entrance.
