Chapter 54: Negal ruins
"Look." Kain said, pointing at something in the distance.
Luna and Yuzuki turned to face the position. They saw giant buildings made of a solid white substance. The buildings had long white arched roofs and windows without glass. All the giant buildings were positioned in way that made three distinct sections with one relatively smaller "main" building in the middle which was gated off by these three sections and walls. There was only one entrance into the whole area, through a large gateway which hand slim buildings on the sides, serving as "watchtowers."
Luna was shocked. "Is this... Las Noches?"
Yuzuki gasped, "Isn't that where Baraggan and his army is located?"
Kain seemed to be in deep thought, which was surprising.
"No it's not. I've been to Las Noches and this isn't it. Plus I don't feel any spiritual pressure coming from there." Kain said, complimenting himself in his head for remembering.
Luna nodded. "He's right. I don't feel anything... Well nothing worth mentioning. Just a few weak adhjchas."
Kain gritted his teeth. "Damn it. I wanted to fight some real enemies! I could probably kill all of those weaker hollows before they even attack. I thought this would mean I could fight something stronger."
Yuzuki was thinking deeply about something for a while before she chimed in.
"Why don't we check it out? Maybe we can use it as headquarters. I mean we are recruiting strong hollows right? We can't just be moving around all the time and resting in the open or caves. I think this is perfect." Yuzuki said.
Kain started laughing, "Hell no. There's no way I would stop and rest when I can hunt every second."
Luna nodded at Yuzuki, "That's a good point."
"So we agree then? We should move forward and conquer that place." Yuzuki said with excitement.
"Yes we should." Luna said, ignoring Kain.
"Hey! Bastard! How dare you ignore me? I regret pointing out that place to you guys..." Kain said in a annoyed and dejected tone.
"I guess that settles it then. Two against one." Yuzuki said before running ahead, leaving Luna behind with Kain.
Luna sighed before turning to look at Kain.
"Are you coming?" He asked Kain, who had been standing there pouting.
"I don't want to but I've got no choice. Afterall I want to find Kiyota aswell and that big thing is hard to miss. Kiyota promised me excitement and so far he had done just that." Kain said, grinning to himself.
Luna gave Kain a small smile before running to catch up with Yuzuki, Kain following close behind.
After a while the trio had gone into the area and walked around, observing the layout. Some building as wide holes, as if hollows had barged into them and others were slightly deteriorating because of sand. They continued to observe as they approached the middle building which seemed to be the main. A few hollows appeared from inside but were swiftly killed by Kain with no difficulty.
"To easy." Kain said.
The three went inside the central building and looked around finding weird rooms to them. Empty rooms with ground mounted chairs in the middle but also connected to another room with long desks that went around the perimeter and ground mounted chairs infront. It was an experimenting room. Another room they found was large and grand with a throne at the top with, again, ground mounted chairs going down each side periodically like a typical throne room. Finally the last room which they thought was the most weird was a small room with a long table and chairs surrounding it.
"What's the purpose of all these rooms?" Yuzuki asked out loud, her voice echoing across the area.
"Well, they're rooms." Kain said with a shrug.
"Thanks for the input, idiot." Luna said, rolling his eyes. "We should keep looking around. Maybe there are more interesting things to find."
Luna led the way as they exited the building and started walking towards the walled off section. When they reached the gate, they saw an archway leading to a pathway with giant columns on each side.
"Alright then."
"I like this one." Yuzuki said, pointing at a tall rectangular building near left of "main" building in the centre of the whole area. The building that Yuzuki was pointing to had smaller buildings around it which were connected to hers.
"I prefer this one." Luna said looking at the white building to the right of the centre. This building followed a similar pattern to Yuzuki's.
"What! That's not fair. I didn't get to choose... Nevermind I think I like this one." Kain said.
Kain was left with a building that was located infront of the small "Main" Building and served as sort of "semi-entrance." This building was larger then the left or right and much larger then the middle area, but wasn't connected to any other buildings. It had a long white staircase that went all the way up and a large entrance.
"Alright then, so we each chose a building. Why don't we check out what's in there first?" Yuzuki suggested.
Luna and Kain agreed, and so they all moved towards the individual buildings that they chose. Yuzuki's building had a surprising amount of "interrogation/torture" rooms, which she assumed because of the previous shackles that were deteriorating. Luna's building had a central desk, waiting areas, "offices" with lots of ground mounted desks and chairs. Kain's big building was mostly open space rooms, which Kain understood for sparing and testing rooms. They met back at the centre, infront of the gate.
"Alright then, so our main goal is to recruit strong hollows, right?" Kain asked.
"Yes that is right." Luna said.
"Then I'll go and get them, you guys just stay here." Kain said.
"No, you'll end up killing the recruits before you brought them back." Yuzuki said with a giggle.
"We should each recruit, let's say 5 hollows and meet back here." Luna said, trying to make sense.
"No. We don't need five each. Let's say two." Kain said.
"Five." Luna said.
"Three. Leaves more for me to kill." Kain said.
"If you're so hell bent on fighting then why don't you recruit a bunch of hollows, make them stronger and then fight all of them at once?" Yuzuki said.
Kain seemed to be considering this.
"I- I never thought about that..." Kain said, his voice trailing off.
"That's because you're an idiot." Luna said, smirking.
"Shut up, bastard! And you... You are a smart little girl." Kain said with a laugh.
Yuzuki's eye twitched, and she was visibly angry at being called "little girl."
"You- You know what. I'm not even going to waste my time with you." Yuzuki said, anger dripping in her voice.
