Chapter 31: Is it really ok
"Very well," Kain said finally, a grin spreading across his face. "I'll join you. Show me this power of Arrancar."
'It worked... I can't believe it actually worked. I can't get ahead of myself. I need to stay calm and make sure he doesn't betray me.' Kiyota thought.
"Now that I've joined you, what do I call you?" Kain said, with a menacing smile.
"You shall address him as Lord, and only him." Luna chimed in, looking very annoyed.
"Lord? Hell no." Kain said with a scoff.
"What!" Luna asked with anger.
"Shut up, no matter what, I would never call anyone lord." Kain said.
"Lord, do you want me to punish him?" Luna said, looking at Kiyota.
"No, no. It's fine." Kiyota's voice boomed, echoing around the desert.
Kiyota was thinking quickly, 'What should I call myself? Now that I think about it, I haven't told Luna my name, either. I think Kiyota Jin should be fine, there's no point using an alias.'
"Call me Kiyota Jin." Kiyota said.
"Kiyota Jin... What a strange name. Very well." Kain said.
"Lord... Jin" Luna said looking at Kiyota.
"Well then, Kiyota Jin. We should have a spar, so I can see your strength." Kain said.
'Ah shit, not again. This guy is so addicted to, fighting. If I fought, I'd turn into a pancake right now.'
"You're not worthy yet. Try your luck against my number one. Luna." Kiyota said, confidently.
Luna's eyes widened.
"Wait, lord. Are you sure?" Luna asked.
"Don't question my judgement, Luna. I've seen his abilities, and you should have no problem." Kiyota said.
'Don't tell me you don't wanna fight this guy too... C'mon Luna, read between the lines here.'
"No, I mean't is it really ok for me to beat this guy senseless? Thank you so much, my lord. I can't wait to disciple this arrogant idiot. I guess it's only right, as lord Jin's first and strongest subordinate, I have to set an example." Luna said happiness.
"You bastard!" Kain said, glaring at him.
'Never mind, Luna is just as crazy as this guy. What have I gotten myself into...' Kiyota thought to himself with a sigh.
Kain and Luna stepped away from Kiyota and faced each other. They stared into each other's eyes, sizing up their opponent. The tension was palpable.
Kain was the first to break the silence. "Well, what are you waiting for? Come at me."
"That eager to eat dirt?" Luna scoffed.
Kain's eyes narrowed. "I'm not going to hold back. Don't expect mercy just because we're allies. That number one spot is mine."
Luna grinned. "You wish."
They stared each other down for a moment longer, then launched themselves forward. As Kain and Luna launched at each other, the sand flew into the air with each clash, creating a storm around the two combatants. Their movements were so fast that even Kiyota's enhanced vision from the three tomoe sharingan struggled to keep up.
Kain's face was contorted with an uncontrollable smile, his battle-hungry nature fully unleashed. In contrast, Luna's expression remained emotionless, his movements precise and calculated as he threw countless strikes. Punches were thrown, deflected, and dodged with incredible speed, creating shockwaves.
Suddenly, both of them leapt back, creating distance between them. Kain's chest heaved with exhaustion, but his smile only widened.
"Not bad, Luna," Kain praised, a tiny bit of respect in his voice.
"You're faster than me, I'll give you that."
Luna scoffed, his lips curving slightly into a thin smile.
"And you're as predictable as I thought."
Kain's eyes narrowed. "But speed isn't everything. I'm stronger, and that's what counts."
Without warning, Luna used sonido, disappearing and reappearing instantly in front of Kain, his fist already cocked back like a spring. But Kain was ready. He jumped back using sonido, narrowly avoiding the punch, and immediately countered with his own attack.
"Cero!" Kain roared, a blast of red energy erupting from his hand.
Luna's eyes widened as he twisted his body, barely avoiding the full force of the attack. The Cero grazed his shoulder, leaving a smoking wound.
As the two continued their fierce battle, Kiyota watched intently, learning.
'This is incredible. The power these two possess... Imagine them as arrancars.'
He observed their fighting styles, noting strengths and weaknesses.
'Luna's speed and precision are impressive, but Kain's raw power and battle instinct are nothing to scoff at. Together, they could be a very strong team... if they don't kill each other first...'
The battle went, on with neither of them willing to fall back. Kiyota knew he'd have to step in eventually, but for now, he allowed the fight to continue. It was an opportunity to gauge their abilities and see how they worked under pressure. Plus, he had promised Kain excitement.
Luna suddenly used sonido to disappear from Kain's sight. In a blink, he reappeared behind him, his hand already glowing with reiatsu.
"Cero Oscuras!" Luna's voice rang out, as a beam of black and purple reiatsu erupted from his palm.
Kain however, spun around, his own hand raised. "Cero Oscuras!" he roared in response, unleashing a blast of black and yellow reiatsu.
The two Cero Oscuras collided in midair, creating a massive explosion that sent shockwaves across the desert.
'If Kain wins, he might get ideas about overthrowing me. I can't let that happen. Luna, please win...' Kiyota thought.
As the dust settled, Kiyota couldn't help but reflect on the nature of their reiatsu. 'Kain's yellow reiatsu... it suits him. Like a prideful lion. And Luna's purple... mysterious and refined.'
Both of the vasto lorde jumped back, creating distance once again.
"You're very strong, Kain. You made the right choice, joining Lord Jin." Luna's voice carried across the battlefield.
Kain's eyes narrowed as Luna continued.
"In fact, Lord Jin has already favoured me with a new power. Wanna see?" Without waiting for a response, Luna bit his thumb, drawing blood.
He began charging another Cero Oscuras, but this time, he infused his blood into the gathering energy.
"Gran Rey Cero Oscuras!" Luna shouted, unleashing a devastating blast of reiatsu far more powerful than before.
Kain was caught off guard by this new technique, but quickly fired his own Cero Oscuras in defence. But it was no match for Luna's attack. The Gran Rey Cero Oscuras overwhelmed Kain's blast, engulfing him in a massive explosion.
