Chapter 47: New Friend

For a moment, they all paused, taking in the scene inside the room. Ethan's eyes found me first, lying on the hospital bed, and his expression shifted from anxious anticipation to one of shock as he absorbed the full extent of my injuries. His parents, mirroring his reaction, gasped softly at the sight of me.

Ethan's mother brought a hand to her mouth, her eyes welling with tears at the sight of me, while his father clenched his jaw, the anger clear across his face. Ethan, taking a step forward, seemed to struggle with his own rush of emotions.

"Kyle," Ethan whispered, his voice cracking. He moved closer and carefully sat beside the bed, reaching out to gently touch an un bruised  patch of skin on my arm.

"It's not as bad as it looks," I smirked. Well, I tried to smirk. "There's a bright side to this."
