The next morning, Valen's mood was interrupted by a messenger arriving from the capital. The scroll they delivered bore the insignia of the imperial council—a rare and ominous sign. Valen broke the seal and unrolled the parchment, his eyes scanning the message with keen interest.
The Emperor had summoned him.
The Serathin Empire, the threat looming on the horizon, had escalated their aggression, and the imperial forces were preparing for war.
