Chapter 67: CH67

Helag estimated the room behind the door to be about five or six hundred square meters, with a large bed at the far end that could easily accommodate six or seven people.

Meanwhile, heavy footsteps approached from outside, and two guards struggled to carry a golden chest.

The guards brought the chest into the room and placed it in front of Helag and Kieran.

"You may leave," Kieran instructed.

The two guards quickly exited, never once looking up at Helag.

"This is the ten thousand gold coins promised by Master Josh. Please check it, Mr. Helag," Kieran said, opening the golden chest to reveal it brimming with shining gold coins.

Helag smiled. "Not bad."

With a wave of his hand, he stored the entire chest away.

The chest alone was worth a lot, and it contained more than ten thousand gold coins.

"Mr. Helag, you can rest here. If you want to go out, just call the servants at the door. There will be a grand banquet tonight," Kieran continued.

Helag didn't stand on ceremony, turning and lying down on the soft, large bed. "Alright."

Kieran respectfully exited, gently closing the door and giving careful instructions to the two maids outside.

"The Kingdom of Violet is indeed the largest in the south. Even a count is this wealthy," Helag marveled.

The Tasone Territory appeared small on the map, and Helag hadn't expected its lord to be so rich.

Helag stayed in the room, planning his route before starting his meditation.

As night fell, a maid knocked on the door.

"Mr. Helag, it's time for the banquet," the two young maids at the door said, their revealing outfits making Helag's eyes blur.

"Lead the way," Helag said softly, casually groping them. The maids only smiled and didn't resist.

The maids led Helag through several palaces.

"Sometimes having a big house isn't a good thing. It takes half an hour just to get to dinner," Helag mused.

The castle was large but sparsely populated, with mostly guards and servants along the way.

The banquet was held in the largest palace, with only about sixty guests, a small number for a noble's banquet.

Helag saw the man from the giant oil painting, Count Huen Banks, sitting at the head of the long table. Josh and Luchi sat on either side, followed by other children and relatives.

"Mr. Helag!" Josh exclaimed excitedly, now dressed in extravagant formal attire, looking even more bloated.

Count Huen turned at the sound, smiling as he stood. "Thank you, Mr. Helag, for saving my son. The Banks family will always remember your kindness."

Helag was seated near the head of the table. The banquet was quiet, with everyone eating in silence.

After a simple meal, the dance began, but Helag wasn't interested.

Count Huen and his two sons approached with wine, thanking Helag again. "Thank you, Mr. Helag!"

Helag clinked glasses with them, his nose twitching as he sensed something.

After drinking, he asked, "Count Huen, are you injured?"

Josh responded excitedly, "Father was assassinated two months ago. The attacker failed but left him with severe injuries that haven't healed. Mr. Helag, can you help?"

"I don't know if I can help. I just smell something familiar," Helag said, sniffing again. He detected the scent of dark energy particles.

Josh, excited, urged his father, "Father, let Mr. Helag take a look. This place is too public; let's go somewhere private."

Count Huen agreed, and they moved to a quiet room next door.

Luchi followed, looking concerned about his father's injury.

Kieran stood guard at the door, ensuring no one else entered.

Helag pulled up a chair and sipped his wine, savoring the expensive drink he couldn't afford before.

"Mr. Helag, can you save my father?" Josh asked eagerly.

Helag put down his glass. "I don't know. I need to see the injury first."

"Father…" Josh looked at Count Huen with a questioning gaze.

Count Huen hesitated before laboriously removing his outer garments, revealing a black wound on his waist. Despite the medicine applied, a faint smell of rot lingered.

"Didn't expect the injury to be this severe," Helag observed, confirming it was caused by a magical object. Dark energy particles lingered in the wound, preventing it from healing, and ordinary medicine was ineffective.

Count Huen smiled bitterly. "I don't have long to live. With Josh missing, I was ready to go. Now that he's safe, I can die in peace."

"Father…" Josh clung to his father's clothes.

Helag remarked, "Die? It's just a minor injury."

"Minor injury? Can you really help?" The Huen family looked at him in shock.

They had consulted countless doctors, all unable to help Count Huen.

They had considered seeking out mysterious figures but lacked the means to contact them. Ordinary mystics wouldn't come to treat a minor count.

"I can treat it. What can you offer? My services are expensive," Helag said, seeing an opportunity to earn from the wealthy Banks family without any guilt.

Count Huen pondered, not out of stinginess, but considering what would be appropriate.

Knowing Helag was a mystic, he needed to offer something satisfactory. But what would please a wizard?

"Money? Wizards don't lack money, and carrying too much is inconvenient."

"Beauty? That's worthless."

After some thought, Count Huen said, "Mr. Helag, if you can heal me, you may freely choose three treasures from the Banks family vault."

Chapter 68: CH68

"Treasure vault?" Helag asked with interest. "Do you have good stuff in there?"

"Of course," Count Huen said proudly, confident in his family's vault.

Helag thought for a moment. "Let's hope your vault can satisfy me."

His tone was blunt. While wizards couldn't slaughter ordinary people en masse, killing a few wouldn't raise any eyebrows.

Count Huen nodded nervously but felt more confident thinking about the many treasures in the vault. "It should satisfy him."

Helag extended his hand over Count Huen's wound.

The dark energy particles in the wound began to dissipate, and Helag slowly absorbed them.

Count Huen felt a strange sensation; the wound seemed less itchy and painful.

Since Helag was being paid, he didn't cut corners. He carefully absorbed every dark energy particle from the wound.

Josh and the others watched quietly as Helag treated Count Huen. Though they didn't understand the process, they saw the blackness in the wound gradually decreasing.

They had always thought the black stuff was poison and never figured out what it was, unable to remove it.

After half an hour, Helag withdrew his hand. "The wound is fine now. Just treat it as a regular injury."

The blackness in Count Huen's wound was gone, revealing red flesh with some blood oozing out.

The castle's doctor quickly arrived to reapply medicine and bandage the wound.

Though Helag had healing potions, he wouldn't waste them on a noble. That would be a waste of resources.

After the doctor treated the wound, Count Huen visibly relaxed, his complexion improving with more color in his face.

Helag admired Count Huen. As an ordinary person, dark energy particles were torturous, lingering in the wound.

Helag had smelled anesthetics on the wound, likely used for pain relief.

Leaning back in his chair, Count Huen took a deep breath and said, "Thank you, Mr. Helag. I feel much better. Now it's time to fulfill my promise."

He stood, and Kieran immediately supported him.

"Mr. Helag, this way," Count Huen said, leading the way.

Josh and Luchi didn't follow, understanding the vault wasn't for them.

Count Huen personally led Helag down to the third basement level of the castle.

In front of a massive iron door stood two knight-level guards in heavy armor.

Count Huen took a wooden box from his pocket, revealing a bronze key inside.

He inserted the key into the door and turned it, triggering the sound of countless mechanical gears.

Click!

With a soft sound, the door slowly opened, revealing a passageway.

"You two stay here. No one is allowed in," Count Huen instructed the guards.

Turning to Helag, he said, "Please, Mr. Helag."

The passageway was lit by oil lamps. Helag followed Count Huen to another door.

This door was smaller but made of solid metal.

Count Huen reached into his clothes, revealing a small key around his neck.

He used the key to open the smaller door.

As soon as the door opened, Helag saw a golden glow.

Entering the vault, Helag was stunned.

The vast warehouse was filled with gold, jewels, and many antique vases and paintings. Helag even saw a massive coral reef.

Count Huen, now energized, proudly introduced the treasures. "These are the Banks family's accumulated treasures. Many items have been here so long, even I don't know their origins. Mr. Helag, as a great mystic, ordinary treasures won't interest you. Please, take a look and choose what you need."

Helag nodded and walked ahead. The vault was as large as a football field, filled with treasures that dazzled him.

"What's this armor?" Helag asked, noticing a full suit of armor in the corner. The material was unique, and he couldn't identify it.

More importantly, the armor seemed to have some anti-magic properties.

He infused a bit of magic into it, encountering resistance. It reminded him of Dino's ship, made from anti-magic forest wood, though the armor's effect was weaker.

"This is the armor of the legendary great knight Goodman Graff. It's said to have many magical properties. Goodman was a legendary figure from over three hundred years ago. His armor must be extraordinary. If you're interested, you can take it," Count Huen explained, noticing Helag's interest.

Helag touched the armor but shook his head. "I'll keep looking."

The armor wasn't very useful to him. He couldn't move around in such heavy armor. For spell defense, he'd rather use a dark energy shield, which was more practical for him.

Helag continued exploring and suddenly stopped, seeing a pair of eyeballs.

They were preserved in a glass jar, looking like specimens.

The eyeballs were blood-red, seemingly staring at Helag, making him uncomfortable.

"What's this?" Helag asked, recognizing the eyeballs' appearance from somewhere.

"Deep Blue, what are these?" he asked his gene chip.

[Based on the analysis, there's a 98.34% probability these are the eyes of the Kuruta tribe. The Kuruta tribe lived in remote mountain areas of the Karag Continent. When emotionally agitated, their eyes turned crimson, considered one of the world's seven most beautiful colors. Many nobles paid high prices for these red eyes, leading to the tribe's massacre. They are now extinct,] Deep Blue provided detailed information.

Helag remembered reading about these eyes as rare alchemical ingredients. He didn't need them now, but they might be useful later.

Since they were extinct, it wouldn't hurt to keep them.
