Things in Gotham City are finally coming to an end.
Kara can finally return to Metropolis.
I believe that Gotham City, which has been plagued by disasters, will be peaceful for a while. Even Gotham City should experience the dawn of justice this time, right?
Harvey hasn't become Two-Face, and he has his beloved fiancée, Rachel. With the collaborative efforts of Justice Jennifer, Commissioner Gordon, and even Chief Shi, Gotham's governance should improve greatly.
Kara left with peace of mind, having to take another vehicle back to Metropolis.
This time, after returning, Kara and Jennifer's car escapades were no more.
However, given the relationship between her and Jennifer, Kara didn't care about such small things. Although Bruce intended to compensate her with a super sports car, Kara declined, saying that the annual maintenance costs alone were enough to buy another car.
So she let it go.
Jennifer also wanted to compensate her, but Kara refused. In the end, with Jennifer's help, the insurance company paid a settlement to cover the unpaid balance on the car loan.
Beyond that, Kara didn't ask for a single penny of compensation. She didn't like making money an issue. If it weren't for the concern of having nothing to do, she wouldn't have even needed a job.
The first thing she did after returning to Metropolis was not to report to the company or return to her apartment but instead to change transportation and head straight home.
Her sudden return delighted her adoptive parents, though it quickly sparked concern from Martha: "Kara, are you hurt?"
Jonathan followed up: "No one found out about your powers, right?"
The family knew she was Supergirl, and Kara returned home because she didn't want them worrying too much.
During her time in Gotham City, her family refrained from calling her, fearing they might distract her.
But once she arrived home, the questions came flooding in.
Kara answered her parents' concerns one by one: "Mom, I'm fine. You know I'm practically indestructible—fireproof, bulletproof, and everything-proof."
Even so, Martha still anxiously held Kara, checking her from head to toe. She didn't stop until she was fully satisfied there wasn't a scratch on her daughter.
Kara, for her part, didn't resist, cooperating fully. Although she jokingly complained about being poked and prodded, the warmth in her heart was unmistakable.
Jonathan, still concerned about her evasion earlier, asked again, "Kara, no one noticed your superpowers, right?"
"Dad, can you stop being so obvious?" Kara sighed.
She explained, "Yes, I had to use my powers to save people, but no one suspects I'm an alien. Thanks to my psychic abilities and elemental magic, they think I'm just someone with superpowers."
She went on to describe what had happened in Gotham.
Her parents didn't know the details, having only caught snippets from the news. Learning that her opponent was the Joker made them realize the danger she'd been in.
The Joker was terrifying for two reasons: his madness and his manipulative intellect.
Kara had no choice in Gotham; she couldn't let anyone die.
Harvey Dent was Gotham's White Knight and its hope for the future.
Letting the Gordon family die would've driven Commissioner Gordon into despair.
And sacrificing Rachel? That would've broken both Harvey and Bruce.
Thus, Kara had to reveal her full strength to turn the situation around.
Thankfully, the Joker hadn't anticipated Kara's abilities, which allowed her to prevail.
Reflecting on it, Kara admitted she had only won because of her unique powers, and even then, the Joker almost escaped.
"It's so embarrassing," she muttered, putting a hand on her forehead. Recalling the whole confrontation with the Joker, she and Bruce had been played for fools.
Jonathan and Martha, however, had a different perspective.
"You did well, Kara. At least you saved a lot of people," Martha reassured her.
Jonathan added, "And now Gotham City might enjoy peace for a while."
Kara squinted at her adoptive father. "Dad, do you have to phrase it like that? 'For a while'? Can't you just say 'peace'? Even if it's true, you don't have to be so blunt."
"And," she continued, "aren't you worried I might have been exposed?"
Jonathan sighed, "What can I do about it?"
Though he was always concerned Kara might reveal her true nature, he had long accepted she was headstrong.
At home, she was a dutiful daughter, but the moment she was "let loose," her true personality emerged.
Being a superhero wasn't something her parents had ever wanted for her. They would've preferred she stayed in Metropolis, working an ordinary job, writing her articles, and visiting them weekly or monthly for family gatherings.
Instead, their daughter was out there fighting villains.
To Jonathan, it felt like having a rebellious teenager forever.
Kara could read her father's expression, his silent complaints written all over his face.
"Alright, alright. I've resigned. Supergirl is officially retired," she announced, spreading her hands.
Jonathan was immediately skeptical. "What did you do to get in trouble?"
"Dad, you're impossible," Kara retorted, exasperated.
Martha intervened, pushing Jonathan lightly. "Our daughter just got home, and you're nagging her already. Go pick some vegetables from the farm; I'll make her favorite dish tonight."
Kara hugged her mother gratefully. It was always nice to have someone on her side.
Even their dog, named Krypton in honor of her and Clark's home planet, came to greet her. Kara pushed him away lightly with her foot.
"Kara, stop bullying the dog," Martha chided. "He clearly loves you."
In truth, Kara didn't dislike Krypton but loved teasing him. For reasons unknown, the dog adored her the most in the family.
As Martha prepared dinner, she sent Kara to take Krypton for a walk.
Kara groaned but complied, secretly enjoying the simple, peaceful moments she got to spend at home.
