Chapter 30: Chapter 30: Kenny

At the press conference following the game, reporters naturally inquired about the tactical arrangements made in the game's final moments.

"That was Andrew's strategy; he made the right choice." Although Van Gundy had a reputation for being somewhat stubborn and old-school, he didn't hesitate to give credit where it was due.

At this moment, even if Andrew wanted to downplay his role, there was no chance for modesty. He had tactically outmaneuvered Pat Riley, the new coach who, despite initial skepticism from the media, was quickly becoming a rising star in the NBA. The local Houston media was already referring to him as a "master in the making."

Once the press conference concluded, Andrew and Van Gundy made their way back to the locker room.

Inside, the atmosphere was electric. The team members erupted with cheers and laughter, their excitement palpable. However, as soon as Van Gundy entered, they quieted down, respect evident in their demeanor.

Van Gundy took a moment to encourage the team before stepping out. The instant he left, the players swarmed around Andrew, celebrating him like a hero. They all understood something the fans didn't: without Andrew's brilliance today, the Rockets would have likely crumbled in the first quarter.

Especially Novak, the true hero of the night, who, if given the chance, would have gladly planted a kiss on Andrew's cheek in gratitude.

After the celebration simmered down, a staff member entered, calling out that someone was looking for Andrew.

Initially thinking it was a reporter, Andrew wrapped up his post-game duties and headed out after the team showered and returned to the hotel.

To his surprise, standing outside was none other than Taylor Swift, whom he had met at a Chinese restaurant a while back.

Beside her was a little boy, around seven or eight years old, likely her brother, Austin, whom she had mentioned previously.

Andrew was taken aback; with so many people around, he hadn't expected to see her.

"You never told me you were the Rockets' first assistant coach," Swift said with a playful smile, her cheeks flushed with a hint of excitement. As a rising star in the music world, she found herself overshadowed by Andrew's newfound fame.

"I didn't expect to see you in Miami," Andrew replied with a grin.

"Austin's a huge Heat fan, so you really broke his heart today," she continued, glancing down at the boy, who was watching Andrew with wide, disappointed eyes.

Turning his attention to Austin, Andrew smiled. "How about you, buddy? Are you a Heat fan?"

"I'm the biggest Heat fan!" Austin declared, puffing out his little chest proudly.

Andrew chuckled. "A fan at such a young age? It seems talent runs in the family," he joked, glancing at Swift.

"He only started watching last season after the Heat won the championship," Swift explained.

Austin pouted, clearly unhappy about being called out. "That's not true!"

Andrew laughed, "So, you like champions, huh? How about this: if the Rockets win this season, you have to become a Rockets fan, deal?"

Austin's eyes sparkled with defiance. "I'd rather not! The Heat are going to defend their title!"

Andrew raised an eyebrow, amused by the boy's enthusiasm. "How about we make a wager? If the Rockets win, you become a Rockets fan; if not, I'll become a Heat fan. Fair?"

"Okay! But I'm still recruiting fans for the Heat!" Austin shot back with a grin.

Andrew couldn't help but laugh at the clever little boy. Just then, a loud cheer erupted from the restaurant, capturing their attention.

He turned to see most diners glued to the TV hanging on the wall, where a live broadcast was unfolding. Barkley had just revealed a box of clothing he'd hidden under the table, his face split into a mischievous grin.

The restaurant erupted in laughter as the box opened, revealing a scandalous set of lingerie with a striking red and black leopard print—the same ensemble worn by Brazilian model Adriana Lima during the previous year's Victoria's Secret Fashion Show.

Andrew found the scene amusing, but out of respect for Swift, he suggested, "Should we find another place to eat?"

Swift shook her head, clearly entertained. She seemed to enjoy the lively broadcast, her eyes glued to the screen.

As the playful chaos continued, Kenny Smith, ever the straight man, humorously donned the lingerie over his suit, his serious expression contrasting with the ridiculousness of the moment.

When the crew wheeled out a lowered hoop, Smith took the basketball and charged toward the camera, dramatically slamming the ball into the hoop. However, in the process, the button on his suit jacket popped off, adding to the comedic spectacle.

The restaurant erupted with laughter, and even Barkley was doubled over with laughter on-screen.

Turning back, Andrew saw Swift giggling behind her hand, while Austin was laughing so hard he was nearly rolling off his chair, completely forgetting his earlier disappointment about the Heat.
