"Do you want to go back?" Austin folded his arms around his chest, watching her with great interest. Seeing that she no longer was in shock at Lucas's sudden appearance, Austin felt no need to interfere in her battle with the Castillos.

Keira had always thought that leaving was the only option. She craved freedom and had found it through escaping, yet her questions remained unanswered.

Why do they hate me so much?

Why did Selene betray my sincerity?

Why was I the only one suffering?

Why did they abandon me to die all alone?

All of these questions and more remained unanswered the further she was away from them. The novel didn't give her explanations, only creating more questions that continued to weigh her down. It seemed that her only existence was to be hated without reason, and that greatly dissatisfied Keira.
