Chapter 122: Chapter 122: All or Nothing

The streets were eerily quiet as Cole and his crew made their way toward the northern edge of the slums. The command post loomed ahead, a fortified structure that was heavily guarded, but Cole's crew knew the streets better than the city's soldiers. They moved through the shadows, avoiding patrols and keeping out of sight.

"Zack, take the lead," Cole whispered, signaling for him to scout ahead.

Zack nodded and disappeared into the darkness, his movements silent and precise. Cole could feel the tension in the air, the anticipation building as they got closer to their target.

Ty was at his side, his expression focused. "You think they know we're coming?"

"Doesn't matter," Cole replied. "We're hitting them hard, whether they expect it or not."

Maria joined them, her eyes scanning the perimeter of the command post. "They've got snipers on the rooftops. We'll need to take them out first."

Lina's voice was calm but sharp. "We can handle that."

Zack's voice crackled through the radio. "I'm in position. Ready when you are."

Cole nodded, his heart pounding in his chest. This was it. Everything they had fought for had led to this moment.

"On my signal," he said, his voice steady. "Take out the snipers, then we move in."

There was a tense silence as they waited, the world seeming to hold its breath.

Then, in a heartbeat, Cole gave the signal.

The sound of silenced gunfire echoed through the night as Zack's team took out the rooftop snipers, their bodies falling silently into the shadows. The city's soldiers below were still unaware of what was happening above them.

"Move," Cole ordered.

They surged forward, slipping through the perimeter and taking out the guards with swift, silent efficiency. The element of surprise was on their side, and they weren't going to waste it.

Lina and Maria moved like shadows, taking down soldiers with precise, lethal strikes. Ty and Zack led the charge through the main entrance, taking out the remaining guards as they stormed the command post.

The city's soldiers were caught off guard, their defense crumbling under the assault. Cole's crew moved with purpose, taking out every obstacle in their path as they made their way to the command center.

"This is it," Cole muttered as they reached the heart of the command post. The room was filled with equipment, maps, and communication devices—the nerve center of the city's operations in the slums.

"We take this out, and they're blind," Ty said, his voice filled with grim satisfaction.

"Plant the explosives," Cole ordered.

Zack and Ty got to work, setting up charges around the room. As they worked, Cole stood guard, his eyes scanning the room for any sign of reinforcements.

Lina stood beside him, her expression calm but focused. "We're almost there."

Cole nodded, his heart pounding in his chest. They were so close.

But just as Zack finished setting the last charge, the door burst open, and a squad of city soldiers stormed into the room.

"Get down!" Cole shouted, diving for cover as gunfire erupted.

The room exploded into chaos as bullets flew, and Cole's crew fought back with everything they had. The city's soldiers were well-trained, but Cole's crew fought with a ferocity born of desperation.

Zack took down one soldier with a well-aimed shot, while Maria and Lina moved to flank the remaining troops. Ty, ever the brawler, charged into the fray, taking out two soldiers with brutal efficiency.

But more soldiers were pouring in, and Cole knew they couldn't hold them off forever.

"Blow the charges!" he shouted, his voice barely audible over the sound of gunfire.

Zack hesitated, his eyes flicking to the explosives. "We're still in here!"

"Do it!" Cole ordered, his voice filled with urgency. "We don't have a choice!"

Zack nodded, his face grim, and hit the detonator.

The explosion rocked the command post, sending shockwaves through the building. Cole's crew barely had time to escape, diving through the nearest exit as the entire structure collapsed behind them.

They hit the ground hard, debris raining down around them as the command post was reduced to rubble. The city's operations in the slums had been destroyed in one fell swoop.

For a moment, everything was silent, the world seeming to hold its breath.

Then, slowly, Cole and his crew pulled themselves to their feet, coughing and battered but alive.

"We did it," Lina said, her voice hoarse but filled with relief.

Cole nodded, his heart still pounding. They had done it. They had struck a decisive blow against the city.

But as he looked out over the smoldering ruins of the command post, he knew this was only the beginning.

The real fight was just getting started.
