Chapter 31: 26. Truth

As the sun sank below the horizon, painting the river in shades of gold and orange, Tiger and Ayesha stood by the water's edge, eyes locked on each other. The soft murmur of the flowing river surrounded them, but the tension in the air between them was undeniable.

Ayesha: "It's beautiful here," she whispered, her gaze shifting from the river to him. "I can't remember the last time I felt so… free."

Tiger didn't take his eyes off her. Even though the scenery was breathtaking, all he could focus on was her. Being with her felt different—like the lines between right and wrong blurred.

Tiger: "It is. But honestly, it's hard to notice the view when you're right in front of me."

Ayesha's heart skipped a beat at his words. She knew this was dangerous—falling for each other when they were on opposite sides. RAW and ISI. But every time she was with him, none of it seemed to matter.

Ayesha: "You know we shouldn't be doing this, right? You're RAW, and I'm ISI. If higher ups finds out…"

Tiger took a step closer, his voice soft but sure.

Tiger: "I know. But when I'm with you, all that fades away. It feels like it's just us, like the rest of the world doesn't exist."

Ayesha's defenses crumbled in front of him. All her life she had kept people at arm's length, but Tiger… he made her want to let him in.

Ayesha: "I feel the same way. But when the truth comes out, what then? We're supposed to be enemies."

Tiger paused, knowing she was right. But what he felt for her was too strong to ignore.

Tiger: "I don't know how this will work. But I want to try. I want to figure it out with you."

Ayesha looked into his eyes, searching for any doubt, but all she saw was sincerity.

Ayesha: "It's a dangerous path we're on, Tiger. But… I want to try too."

As the sun dipped below the horizon, they made an unspoken promise. Whatever was to come, they would face it together, even if it meant going against everything they knew.

Flashback:

It was only a matter of time before the bubble Tiger and Ayesha were living in would burst. Watching them fall for each other was interesting, but I knew the truth couldn't stay hidden forever. They had no idea how their worlds were about to collide.

They sat by the river again, laughing like any regular couple. But they weren't regular, and neither were their lives. It was time they learned the truth.

I stepped out from the shadows, teleporting just a few feet from them. The moment they sensed my presence, they both turned, instantly alert.

"Dev, what are you doing here?" His voice was sharp, his body tense as if ready for a fight.

Ayesha stood beside him, her eyes filled with suspicion but no fear.

I raised my hands, giving them a casual smile. "Well there's something you both need to know, and it will be best if you know it now."

"Do you know him?" she asked tiger her voice calm but firm.

I walked closer, crossing my arms. "The name's Dev. And I'm about to tell you something that'll change everything, for both of you but I will be helping you both if you still decide, to be together."

Tiger looked at Ayesha, confused. "What are you talking about?"

I took a deep breath, ready to drop the truth.

"Well, here's the truth my dear friend, Ayesha… she's ISI."

There was a stunned silence as the words sank in. Both of them looked at me in disbelief.

Tiger: "What?! That's impossible!" He turned to Ayesha, shock and confusion written all over his face. "You're ISI?"

Ayesha went pale, her voice shaking slightly. "No… you're lying. I can't believe this."

I shook my head. "I'm not lying. And same goes for Tiger, he is from RAW."

Tiger stared at Ayesha, his expression turning cold. "You're ISI? You've been lying to me all along?"

Ayesha's voice cracked as she looked back at him. "And you've been lying too. You never told me you were RAW."

The truth had hit them both hard. They weren't just two people in love—they were agents, trained to distrust and deceive. Now, they had to face the reality of their situation.

"So, what now? Are you going to let this ruin everything, or will you find a way to move past it?"

I said as, They stood there, unsure of what to say. The connection between them was real, but their identities were a heavy burden to bear.

"Why didn't you tell me?"

Tiger said His voice was softer now, the anger fading into hurt.

Ayesha blinked, trying to hold back her tears. "I could ask you the same thing."

I decided to step away, letting them process the truth. My job was done. It was up to them now to figure out what they wanted—to let their love survive or let their duty destroy it.

......

As I walked away, I could feel the weight of their silence. It was heavy, laden with unspoken questions and the reality of their situation. I had done what I came here to do—lay the truth bare. Now it was up to them to decide what came next.

"Dev, wait."

Tiger's voice cut through the air, catching me off guard.

I turned around, seeing him take a step forward, his expression torn between anger and uncertainty. Ayesha stood behind him, her eyes darting between us.

"Why now? Why reveal all of this now?"

I shrugged, my hands still in my pockets.

"Because you were both walking blind into something that was never going to work. If you're going to survive this, you need to know the truth and my help or if you want you can have it your ways."

Ayesha narrowed her eyes, her suspicion growing.

"What do you mean by 'You will help us'? "

I gave her a knowing smile. "There's always more. You two may have been enjoying your little bubble, but the world outside isn't going to stop moving just because you're in love, so if you want I can help escape from their eyes."

Ayesha flinched slightly at the word love, but neither of them denied it.

They exchanged a glance, the connection between them still strong despite the revelation of their true identities. It was clear they still had feelings for each other, but their trust had been shattered.

"Why should we trust you?"

Tiger asked, his voice hard.

"You just blew up our lives."

I took a deep breath, my gaze steady. "Because I'm the only one you can trust, and you're going to need me if you want to survive."

There was a long pause, the tension between us thick in the air. Finally, Ayesha stepped forward, her expression unreadable.

"What do you want us to do?"

I smiled. "Simple. Stay alive. And when the time comes, you'll know exactly what to do."

With that, I turned and walked away, disappearing into the shadows once more. I could feel their eyes on me as I left, but I didn't look back.

After all, even if they don't like it I want my mission completed, and I will do anything that will benefit both of us.
