Kayla's lips curved downward as she watched how Oliver's fingers drummed on the table. He didn't do it anymore. He would hold her hand on grab her thigh when he was feeling anxious, upset, or disoriented but this time, he didn't even glance at her.
She understood why. What happened last night sent everyone into a frenzy. It shouldn't have happened but here they all were, in the conference room too stunned to speak or too afraid to do anything but freeze in their seat.
Her eyes wandered to her friends. Cherry's eyes watered but no tears fell. It was a miracle that Cherry's cheeks weren't fuller than a river's. Jack didn't even raise his head to meet her eyes while Rosa kept biting the inside of her cheeks. It would bleed, Kay noticed. She had to stop it but would the girl listen to her?
The other interns and employees averted their gaze from Oliver, except for one witch in particular.
