Chapter 47: The Brain Is a Bit Sick
After venting his thoughts in the diary, Zhao Ling quickly uploaded it. A system message appeared on the panel before him:
[The diary was uploaded successfully. Evaluation level: C. Reward: +1000 years to all soul bones.]
While the reward looked decent on the surface, it wasn't enough to advance any of his soul bones to a higher level. Forget it, Zhao Ling thought. It's better than nothing.
He curled his lips in slight disappointment and, out of habit, called out to the hotel staff.
"Hey, waiter, could you bring the menu so we can order? Thanks!"
The moment the words left his mouth, Zhao Ling scratched his head awkwardly. For days, he had been treating the Spirit Hall group to meals, but tonight, they were the ones treating him and Ah Yin.
Great. Way to act like a guest stealing the show.
Thankfully, everyone was on friendly terms, and no one seemed to mind. They all took their seats around the table. Yue Guan went to inform the restaurant owner about the drinks to be served.
---
Meanwhile, both Bibi Dong and Ah Yin noticed the golden exclamation mark on the *Copy of Zhao Ling's Diary* hovering in front of them. They immediately realized the diary had been updated again.
Without hesitation, they opened their personal copies and began reading.
Since the contents of each diary copy were exclusive and visible only to the owner, the two women didn't worry about others overhearing anything.
As they read the latest entry, both were left speechless. Glancing at each other, their expressions mirrored the same thought:
'Seriously? Pretending to be some grandmaster in front of us? Your diary has already betrayed all your secrets.'
Their shared frustration practically echoed in their minds.
'Your "masterly" image is long gone, Zhao Ling. Don't even bother trying to uphold it now. And it's not just us—Liu Erlong knows your true nature too. In the future, more women might learn about you through this diary.'
'Why not just drop the act? We don't mind who you really are. We're already used to it.'
---
At the same time, Liu Erlong, eating dinner alone at home, noticed the golden exclamation mark on her own *Copy of Zhao Ling's Diary.* She opened it slowly, and the familiar magnetic voice filled her ears.
The first few sentences were enough to sour her mood.
In his diary, Zhao Ling had declared Ah Yin and Bibi Dong the most outstanding beauties in the Douluo Continent at this stage.
'Who does this guy think he is? How many women in Douluo has he even seen to make such a shameless claim?'
Liu Erlong's expression darkened. 'Excuse me, but am I not beautiful too?'
She wasn't just boasting—she was the undisputed belle of the Advanced Soul Master Academy. Plenty of boys admired her, even if her fiery temper and tendency to lose control scared most of them off.
'Spineless cowards,' she thought bitterly. 'They're not real men.'
As she continued reading, Liu Erlong couldn't help but picture Zhao Ling sitting between two stunning women, secretly longing to embrace them but restraining himself to maintain the dignity of a "Titled Douluo."
This guy… she thought, suppressing a laugh. Is he serious? He's practically drooling over them in his mind, yet he still wants to look noble and dignified?
She sighed in exasperation. This Zhao Ling… is a little sick in the head, isn't he?
It struck her as absurdly contradictory. He's the one who wrote this diary and allowed us to see it. His thoughts are laid bare for all three of us to read, yet he insists on acting like he has a perfect image to uphold. Make it make sense.
*Still…* Liu Erlong mused, 'he's oddly entertaining. I can't tell if I like this strange style of his or not.'
But then a new realization struck her. Zhao Ling had claimed he was a Titled Douluo, yet the diary had peculiar properties that no Titled Douluo should possess.
For one, he had somehow sent this mysterious *Copy of Zhao Ling's Diary* to her while simultaneously blocking her father from seeing or hearing its contents. Even her uncle, a Titled Douluo, couldn't do something like that.
Moreover, the rewards linked to the diary—like extending life by 30 years and reducing aging by 10%—were beyond the capabilities of any Titled Douluo.
The more she thought about it, the more everything pointed to a larger mystery.
There must be a greater force or a powerful individual behind this diary, she concluded. While Zhao Ling might have written it, the one distributing the copies must be someone else entirely.
This train of thought led her to another intriguing idea. 'What if Zhao Ling knows so much about the future entanglements between Bibi Dong, Yu Xiaogang, and me because he's a time traveler?'
The notion sounded ridiculous at first, but then again, the very existence of the diary was miraculous.
That night, Liu Erlong couldn't stop thinking. She began to view the *Copy of Zhao Ling's Diary* as a life-changing opportunity.
'If the diary was gifted by a mysterious power far beyond the level of a Titled Douluo, what would happen if I gained that power's favor? Could I become a Titled Douluo myself—or even surpass that level?'
The thought set her heart racing. 'Maybe that's why Bibi Dong and Ah Yin are drawn to Zhao Ling. They must see the same opportunity I do.'
