"LUC?"

Handsome and cruelly aristocratic-looking, Luc surprised Irina the second she and Sir Hector were safely inside Hector's home. He leaned against an antique teak table, examining a wooden Japanese figurine of a bald monki. "Will you commit seppuku, Sir Hector? And you, Irina? Your plot clearly didn't pan out." He tossed the figurine from one hand to the other.

Hector hissed. "Put that down! It's an antique Japanese Lacquer Wood Okimono, signed Ryuichi, Meiji Era, circa 1890. Very valuable! A wealthy friend in Japan gave it to me just after it was made!"

Luc bounced the figurine between both hands. "Is it worth more than your dignity now that my brother and his lapdogs in the Order of Nosferatu have made you both kneel in the dirt?"

His eyes glittered with fury.

Irina's stomach plummeted into her feet. "How did you get in here?"
