"Can you please take Myne with you in your journey?"
"Yeah but why?" He asked, a bit shocked.
His other party members were also shocked.
"Why sir hero, Did I fail to meet your expectations?" Said bi*ch
Don't make me laugh!
"No myne. On the other hand, you've exceeded my expectations"
"So why?" She said, seeming very upset.
Others were just watching.
Granted, you think I'm cold-hearted? Fine by me.
But at least let me cut off the baggage. Otherwise, I'm the one who'll be backstabbed.
MOTOYASU'S POV:~
How can he be this cold hearted? Can't he see how sad myne is? When no one chose to go on a journey with him, she was the only one who chose him. Instead of being thankful to her, he's leaving her behind? How can he even think of doing that?
"Myne, it's not because of your incompetence that I'm leaving you behind, but mine"
"What are you trying to say? Can't you say it straightforwardly" I scolded him
"As you all know, I'm the weakest of all heroes, which is why I'm going for the heads of stronger monsters. If I die, so be it. But I don't want to risk the life of princess. I don't want to be called a cold-blooded hero who didn't cared for the life of her companion for his own gain" he explained
Oh, so he's thinking about her.
"Sir hero, I already told you that I'm not going to be a burden. I can even take ca-"
"Myne."
With a voice as sharp as a knife, Naofumi stopped her short.
"…If you want to die, just tell me—I'll fulfill your wish."
Expression lost, eyes reflecting no light but filled with black slaughter, Naofumi growled.
"we don't need a monster killing you when you're under my responsibility."
With that, myne began to cry
Naofumi then looked at me, his eyes were asking for an answer. By his looks, I can tell that he's been through many things before coming here. But what's the fault of myne? you could've also explained her calmly, what's the point of shouting at her?
Everyone was looking at him. Naofumi still unwavered
"Okay, if you think you can't protect her, I'll take her in my party" if she'll be with him, he'll just make her cry even more. I can't let her stay with him anymore.
"Thank you so much" he said with his expressionless face. Got up and started going outside.
"Hey! Where are you going"
I can see from his expression that he is going to fight monsters, but this late? Its too dangerous!
"Just going for leveling a bit"
"It's too late, and stronger monsters appear in the night. Don't mistake this world as that of game. If you die, you'll cease to exist"
"Thanks for the advice"
With that, he went away. My other party members began comforting myne.
NO ONE'S POV:~
Naofumi thought he would handle things perfectly. But in the middle of the discussion, He started remembering his past life.
And therefore, he snapped.
Naofumi headed back straight to the grasslands where those orange baloons were, and stood beside a tree. He touched his chest and was glad he could be alone again. that he changed the scenario of his life being ruined, being hated by everyone had not been in vain.
"What do you mean, not in vain? You damn hypocriiite!!"
He punched the tree with all his strength, excoriating himself. Why do only I have to go through it? Other heroes are living their life just fine. They have trustworthy companions, powerful weapons, they have many people to depend on, but they don't have to. On the other hand, I'm alone once again. And the only one I can rely on other than myself right now? Erhard? who met me only once!
"I also wanted people I could rely on, I also wanted people who rely on me. I also wanted to be happy. I'm glad that I'm alone again? You goddamn liarr!"
I miss my companions. Mainly Raphtalia and Filo, and they don't even know if I exist in the world! I have to make those memories once again. Even a bit of carelessness would change the memories all along. Do I have to manipulate the minds of my own companions, so that their behaviour would be like how it was previously, but why? Because I like it that way? How can you even think about doing that?
…Before he knew it, the tree was broken. Sharp splinters of wood lodged in the fists he'd used to smash it, blood spilling down. The blood that had rushed to his head immediately subsided. His sober thoughts chided his heart.
"From now on, I'm making a promise to myself. No matter what happens..., whatever it takes..., I will make sure that... There will be.. No Regrets!"
