Chapter 46: Chapter 46 – Meeting of Two Alphas

Shidou's presence loomed over the entire field, his explosive performance sending a clear message to both his opponents and teammates: he was the one with protagonist power, the one commanding attention. His aura was palpable—he demanded the spotlight.

The red team kicked off once again, and immediately the showdown between Kira and Shidou resumed for the third time. Shidou, ever relentless, relied on brute strength, trying to physically dominate Kira by muscling his way in. Yet, Kira, with his refined footwork and precise dribbling, danced around Shidou's aggressive presses. Each time Shidou lunged, Kira moved the ball away by mere inches, demonstrating his impeccable ball control under pressure.

Kira's teammates, Raichi and Nagi, weren't idle. They shifted into a formation, forming a triangle—Raichi holding a wider position while Nagi drifted closer to Kira, playing more centrally. The red team executed a quick one-touch passing routine, effortlessly slicing through the white team's defense. Every time Shidou charged at Raichi when he had the ball, Kira and Nagi positioned themselves to use Shidou's own teammates as barriers, obstructing his path. Nagi, as always, flowed along with the play, calm and composed.

Amidst the flurry of passes, Shidou's voice cut through the noise. "Hey, blondie," he called, referring to Kira. There was a tinge of disappointment in his voice. "I thought we were having a duel here." His grin widened, but there was a challenge in his eyes. "What's the matter? Afraid of losing to me?"

Kira, without missing a beat, fired back. "Are you stupid? Winning is all that matters. Just like you said." As Kira bypassed Shidou, keeping the ball moving forward, he flashed a smirk. "Football is Life."

Shidou's eyes gleamed, and he returned the grin. "You're getting it," he cackled, immediately giving chase, the thrill of the game fueling him.

As the ball moved upfield, it eventually found its way to Nagi, who had already positioned himself perfectly, half-turned toward the goal. Without hesitation, Nagi swung his leg and unleashed a powerful shot, aiming to bury it in the net. But in an instant, Shidou, like a predator pouncing on prey, swooped in and deflected the shot. The ball struck his thigh and ricocheted sharply, flying off toward the left side of the field.

"Tch," Nagi clicked his tongue in mild frustration, his usually calm expression betraying a hint of annoyance at Shidou's impeccable timing.

Unfortunately for the white team, Kira had anticipated where the ball would land. Positioned perfectly, he seized the moment, his eyes locking onto the incoming ball. Without hesitation, he swung his right foot and executed a clean volley, striking the ball with precision. It soared toward the left side of the goal, evading the goalkeeper's reach, and found the back of the net with a satisfying thud.

Red Team 2 – 2 White Team.

The red team celebrated with a round of high-fives, but Raichi was quick to scold Nagi for missing his earlier opportunity. "If you want to score, make sure to put it in the net, genius," Raichi barked at Nagi, who nodded quietly, absorbing the criticism.

As the game resumed, the white team took possession, with Kira still marking Shidou, even though he knew he was outmatched physically. Raichi, noticing the imbalance, shouted from across the field. "Oi, Kira! Switch with me, I'll handle that bastard!" His voice was firm, issuing a command.

But Kira was defiant. "Fuck off, Raichi," he snapped, his eyes fixed on Shidou. "This black dragon is mine."

Raichi's temple twitched in frustration, a vein popping out as he gritted his teeth. But he didn't argue further, knowing Kira was dead set on this battle.

Kira kept a strategic distance from Shidou, aware that brute strength wouldn't win this fight. Shidou, moving like a predator on the wing, cut inside, where Kira shadowed him. Then, in an instant, Shidou broke forward, racing toward the goal as Kurona launched a cross from the right side. The ball flew low and fast, with barely any spin—perfect for a header.

Shidou dove forward, head-first, his body almost horizontal to the ground as he aimed to score. Kira, anticipating this, leapt to intercept. He had positioned himself well, and his head met the ball first, altering its trajectory just enough to send it out of bounds.

The impact was violent. Kira and Shidou collided midair—head, shoulders, and bodies clashing in a brutal tangle. The thud of their collision reverberated across the field as both players crashed to the ground.

"You crazy bastard!" Shidou growled, his accent slipping out in his frustration. He was furious, pushing himself up from the turf. "You could've injured me with that stunt!"

Kira, wiping a trickle of blood from beneath his nose, smirked through the pain. "This is where the fun begins, bozo," he taunted, his grin widening. "Besides, if I didn't do that, you would've scored again."

Shidou paused, processing Kira's words. Then a wide grin split his face, his eyes gleaming with excitement. "I like you," he said, pointing a finger at Kira. "We might just get along when I steal you from your team."

Kira shot back without missing a beat. "Speak for yourself," he said, his voice cool. "You mean when I steals you away from yours."

The challenge was laid bare between them, neither willing to back down as the tension on the field continued to rise.

After their intense clash, Shidou's focus locked solely onto Kira, and Kira responded in kind. Whenever Kira had possession, Shidou was relentless—pressing, harassing, and constantly attempting to steal the ball. On the white team's attacks, Shidou consistently positioned himself in dangerous areas, looking to exploit any opening and capitalize on crosses from his teammates. Kira, however, was always right there to disrupt him—sometimes successfully, sometimes not.

When Kira failed to contain Shidou, Raichi would step in, covering the gaps. Although he couldn't convince Kira to switch with him, Raichi began closely tracking the duel between them, prepared to block Shidou's shots whenever Kira faltered. The intensity of their battle began to consume the game, driving the entire team to push themselves harder. Players became more aggressive in their movements, more daring in their attempts to advance and score.

Nagi, however, struggled to keep up. Although he managed several shots, none found the back of the net, each one blocked—most often by Shidou, who seemed to be everywhere at once. Frustration gnawed at Nagi, his usual calm demeanor cracking under the pressure.

Raichi had the ball now, scanning the field. He noticed Kira and Shidou locked in another heated struggle, realizing that passing there would only stall the game. Instead, Raichi decided to link up with Nagi, exploiting the distraction of Kira and Shidou's battle.

"Nagi, get in front of the goal!" Raichi barked.

Nagi complied, positioning himself with his back to the goal, ready to receive the ball. Raichi attempted to break through the defense with his dribbling, but Hirakazu quickly shut him down, stealing the ball cleanly.

"Damn!" Raichi cursed under his breath, frustrated as Hirakazu sprinted toward the red team's goal. Raichi gave chase, running shoulder to shoulder with him, determined to atone for his mistake.

"You should've passed it to me, Raichi!" Kira shouted from a distance.

"I get it, I get it!" Raichi snapped back, focusing as he lunged in for a clean tackle, stealing the ball from Hirakazu before he could cause more trouble. Without hesitation, Raichi passed the ball to Kira, who was still struggling against Shidou's overwhelming strength.

Shidou tried to overpower Kira again, shoving him off balance, but Kira used Shidou's own momentum against him. With a deft touch, Kira flicked the ball behind his back, spinning away and using the force of Shidou's push to accelerate. In an instant, he created space between them.

Wasting no time, Kira sent a precise, spinning pass toward Nagi, who still had his back toward the goal. Watching Kira's smooth escape from Shidou's press, Nagi mind was struck by inspiration. Instead of trapping the ball, Nagi used his heel to flick it up and over the defender, launching the ball into open space. He spun around, using his left hand to fend off Kurona, preventing him from catching up.

Now one-on-one with the keeper, Nagi didn't hesitate. With a quick, effortless swing of his right foot, he slotted the ball neatly into the net.

Red Team 3 – 2 White Team.
