With a single strike, the entire Jia Ma Empire might cease to exist!
While the Jia Ma Empire was trembling with fear, Jiang Yun and his group arrived at another famous spot in Doupo.
Qingshan Town!
This town, closest to the Magic Beast Mountain Range, is also known as the Magic Beast Town. Along the way, the appearances of Ziyan and Qinglin caused quite a stir.
After dealing with a few waves of people, a tired Jiang Yun donned the black robe of an alchemist from the Canaan Academy assessment.
A badge was attached to his chest, shaped like a medicine cauldron, with three mercury-like ripples constantly and slightly undulating, indicating a rank-three alchemist. Generally, when an alchemist passes higher grade assessments, the previous badge is taken back. Canaan Academy can assess up to rank five, and Jiang Yun could have obtained a rank five badge.
However, because of certain connections, he kept his previous badge, and today it served its purpose.
Being a step ahead makes you a genius. Being ten steps ahead will have others questioning your intelligence. At Jiang Yun's age, a rank-three alchemist badge was more intimidating than a rank five one.
Once Jiang Yun donned the robe, their journey was remarkably smooth and free from harassment.
Due to the location, shops along the streets of Qingshan Town were bustling. Pedestrians were many, their conversations were loud, crude words frequently on their lips, often revolving around women.
They moved in groups, arm in arm, discussing with abandon which woman in town was most attractive, which wine was the strongest, and which magical beast was the fiercest.
Ziyan and Qinglin frowned but, having traveled through several cities, they had plenty of experience, tuning out unwanted comments.
For mercenaries who licked blood off the blade, living for today with no guarantee of tomorrow, women were always a hot topic.
Seeing Ziyan and Qinglin, their eyes lit up, like hungry wolves.
"Hmph!"
Seeing this, Jiang Yun coldly snorted, unleashing a terrifying soul force in the form of a soul storm, sweeping over everyone nearby.
"Ah—"
Painful wails filled the air. The remaining people, untouched by the storm, looked at Jiang Yun with fear.
At that moment they realized that this young, fair-faced man was actually an alchemist — a rank-three at that.
"Hiss—"
Sounds of disbelief came from the crowd. A rank-three alchemist had arrived in Qingshan Town.
Everyone's gaze turned from fear to an eager desire toward Jiang Yun.
"Xiaoyun, let's go!" Ziyan noticed not only the unwanted gazes towards her and Qinglin but also those desiring looks towards Jiang Yun, making her uncomfortable. She tugged at Jiang Yun's arm.
"Alright!" Jiang Yun nodded, pulling Ziyan and Qinglin along the street.
The mercenaries around them, lacking the nerve to approach, could only watch the three backs with envy and fear.
On both sides of the street were numerous shops, bustling thanks to their prime location.
Following the principle of 'living off the mountain,' the most sold products were freshly slaughtered magical beast meat.
Magical beasts were valuable, and their meat was particularly so, serving as a tonifying supplement for fighters training in Dou Qi, subtly improving their physiques over time.
The higher the grade of magical beast meat, the more valuable it was.
Sweeping his gaze over the shops, Jiang Yun soon focused on a spacious herb shop.
Wanyaotang!
Without hesitation, Jiang Yun led the two inside. The shop was crowded, and the staff were busy.
Jiang Yun quickly scanned the counters around him, shaking his head silently after inspecting everything. The Blood Lotus Essence he sought hadn't appeared; the timing must be off!
At this time, hurried footsteps sounded, soon followed by a middle-aged man who looked mildly shocked seeing Jiang Yun, but when spotting the alchemist badge on his chest, his face lit up with joy.
"I am Yao Bai, the master of Wanyaotang. Forgive me for not recognizing the esteemed guest!"
Seeing the middle-aged man humbling himself, many, recognizing him, were shocked. Wanyaotang was one of the top forces in Qingshan Town, and seeing its master acting this way was a shock.
"I'm here for one thing only!" Jiang Yun's tone remained indifferent, despite Yao Bai's attitude.
Yao Bai, undaunted, flatteringly said, "Master, just give the order, and I will go through fire and water without hesitation."
Giving him a glance, Jiang Yun asked, "You have an alchemist named Little Doctor Immortal here, right?"
Yao Bai was momentarily stunned but, glancing at Ziyan and Qinglin, showed a look of realization and quickly replied, "Yes, Little Doctor Immortal is our specially hired healer, with excellent medical skills. Half the mercenaries in Qingshan Town owe their lives to her."
"Moreover, she is as beautiful as a goddess. Is the master—"
Outwardly smiling, Yao Bai's heart bled. He had long desired Little Doctor Immortal but refrained due to various concerns. He couldn't believe now a rank-three alchemist had come, and he would likely lose her. He only hoped that after years of good relations, the alchemist would compensate him well.
"That's not for you to know!" Jiang Yun's cold tone made Yao Bai shiver. "I'll go fetch Little Doctor Immortal right away!"
Shortly, the curtain to the back room lifted, causing a stir in the hall. Despite fearing Jiang Yun, whispers were heard.
"Little Doctor Immortal is here!"
"She healed my arm the other day. How fortunate Qingshan Town is to have her."
"So beautiful, and that slender waist…"
"Better watch your tongue. Not just the mercenaries, even that alchemist might cut it out!"
"Sigh, Little Doctor Immortal has truly lucked out this time!"
A girl in a pale white dress appeared. Though not as stunning as Ziyan or Medusa, nor as pretty as Qinglin, her fresh and ethereal aura boosted her charm remarkably.
Jiang Yun's eyes lingered on the green sash around her slim waist.
The renowned first waist of Dou Qi Continent lives up to its name!
"Master, this is Little Doctor Immortal!" Yao Bai cautiously said.
Little Doctor Immortal sensed Jiang Yun's gaze, feeling both shy and slightly annoyed. Given his alchemist status, she didn't dare react openly, instead lowering her head submissively.
"So, you know some healing?" Jiang Yun's gentle tone was calming, easing her nerves.
"A little, sir." She hesitated but answered softly.
"You have wood attribute Dou Qi. Interested in learning herbal cultivation?" Jiang Yun's warm tone made her feel like he was a caring older brother, easing her tension.
This kind-hearted girl had unfortunately inherited the worst possible constitution: the Woeful Poison Body.
Apart from its dangers, the rapid advancement of skills for this body type was top-tier, even surpassing divine bloodlines.
A regular person's growth depended on effort and opportunity, whereas the Poison Body's could increase rapidly by absorbing poisons.
However, it had many downsides. Once it erupted uncontrollably, it would endanger all life around. Failing to control it eventually would make her a disaster for the continent.
Thus, the Poison Body was more of a curse than a blessing, making her an enemy to all.
For someone as kind-hearted as her, it was a burden she would gladly trade to live as a simple healer.
But, analyzing Yao Chen's ring earlier, Jiang Yun found methods to possibly eradicate this affliction. He pondered if he could preserve her original Dou Qi affinity without the rapid growth appeal of the Poison Body.
"Would you teach me?" Happy tears filled her eyes, and she looked at Jiang Yun without blinking.
"Let's go!" Jiang Yun nodded, leading Ziyan out the door first.
"Little Doctor Immortal, let's go! Brother Jiang Yun never breaks his promises!"
Confused and hesitant, Little Doctor Immortal stood still. Gentle Qinglin pulled her along, easing her doubts.
Their departure made Yao Bai anxious. After all his efforts, he wasn't even compensated!
In desperation, he rushed toward Jiang Yun.
"Hmph!"
Ziyan turned back, releasing a terrifying aura, paralyzing Yao Bai.
"Ugh—"
Yao Bai stared fearfully at Ziyan, unable to move or speak.
Seeing this, no one else dared interfere. Jiang Yun's group walked away, unbothered. Even Little Doctor Immortal, despite seeing Yao Bai often, felt no sympathy, aware of his true nature and intentions.
Outside Wanyaotang, she saw familiar faces.
Several mercenaries wearing wolf-head emblems were around. One middle-aged man, seeing Jiang Yun, hurriedly greeted, "Honored master, I am Mu She, leader of the Wolf Head Mercenary Group."
"Mm." Jiang Yun nodded indifferently and continued walking.
Feeling slighted, Mu She briefly showed anger but quickly hid it, loudly saying, "It would be an honor to serve you whenever you visit Qingshan Town again, Master."
Little Doctor Immortal felt bewildered seeing Mu She so subservient. She realized that being an alchemist indeed commanded great respect and that her life was about to change dramatically.
"Father, he's just a rank-three alchemist. How can we be sure of his abilities considering his age?"
A young man next to Mu She spoke discontentedly, feeling disgruntled seeing his father humbled.
"Smack—"
All went spinning from a severe slap, nearly passing out.
"Brat—"
Beating his son, Mu She watched Jiang Yun's group, fearing the worst.
"Misspoken words must be punished. Don't you agree, Mu She?"
Jiang Yun finally spoke to Mu She, who now wished he hadn't.
"Master…"
Mu She couldn't finish. Before anyone could react, white flames engulfed everything, leaving no trace of the Wolf Head Mercenary Group.
