Chapter 40: The Master's Command

Kaleb winces, clutching his chest as he made his was through the camp with Atara and Rayna supporting him on both sides. They exchange worried glances as his groans become louder and more frequent. Victor stood ahead of them, leading the way with his severed arm in hand. They arrive at the central tent now guarded by two soldiers with spears in hand.

Breathing heavily and clearly in a hurry he approached the entrance to the tent but the guards block his path with their spears.

"We need to get inside, let us through."

With a stern look one of the guards spoke.

"No clearance, you can't enter"

"It's urgent, let us through!"

His expression displayed irritation at Victor's words.

"Like I said, if you don't have clearance you can't enter"

While Victor argued fruitlessly with the first guard, the second noticed Kaleb Atara and Rayna behind him.

"What are you slaves doing here?" he asked with a sneer.
