Chapter 40: Chapter 39: A Sacrifice in Vain

"Tanaka-kun, what are you trying to do?" Akane asked.
"It's still not far enough..." Tanaka replied. "I need him to go further."
This response clarified not only Akane's doubt but also the same question many others had.
In the air, more than 100 meters away, Fusato, who had been thrown, began to lose speed. However, before he could start to fall, his shadow clone approached within 10 meters and launched its chains, connecting to him. Now close enough, the clone used the Precise Throw ability.
"No, no!!!" Fusato despaired, not for his own life, but for the fear that if he exploded and failed to kill the enemies, especially the Uzukage, the lives of his daughter and his grandson, who was still in her womb, would be in danger. Tanaka hadn't yet learned this Fuuinjutsu, so he just watched as Akane and eight others, including Shiori, performed the seals. Then, chains emerged from them, enveloping the entire village in a dome that formed a protective barrier.
"Tanaka, you saved our lives and those of many in the village," said Masashi, just before the explosion occurred.

Tanaka didn't have time to respond, as the impact hit immediately. He brought his fingers to his ears; the deafening sound of the explosion made his ears ring instantly.
And then, the force of the explosion swept everything from above, reaching them.
"My God, even from so far away, it's still capable of causing such a massive impact...!"
"Ahh, my ears hurt...!"
"That bastard... If he had exploded here, we all would have died...!"
"In the end, he sacrificed himself in vain..."
"Damn bastard, if he hadn't died, I would've killed him myself!"
"Damn, my house is nearby; if it had happened here, then...!"
Many were muttering different things, but Tanaka could only hear those who spoke the loudest.
"Hold steady!" shouted Masashi.
