Chapter 18: -Contact with enemy fleet-
A fishing boat of unknown nationality, as well as a Soviet light cruiser and a destroyer.
There's no way these two things are unrelated.
Having made this judgment, the captain of the Soya issued a warning to the approaching Soviet fleet.
"We are the Imperial Japanese Navy Coast Defense Fleet. Your fleet is approaching our fleet. Change course immediately! Your fleet is entering Japanese territorial waters!!"
There is no response.
But a few minutes later.
"Captain! An approaching Soviet light cruiser has sent out an ignition signal! It's a Morse code!!"
"Decipher it now!!"
"We understand that we are approaching Japanese territorial waters, but we are here to rescue our people.
We received a report of a fishing boat in distress nearby and came to rescue it. The purpose of our actions is to save lives!"
"Lifesaving efforts?! This happened in Japanese territorial waters, so surely they should leave the rescue to us!!"
The Soviet fleet continues unstoppable. Eventually, they come within firing range of each other's main guns.
"Captain, should we aim our main guns at the enemy ship just in case?"
"Stop it, we can't provoke him now!!"
but···
"The enemy destroyer is turning! The enemy's main guns remain aimed unchanged..."
At that moment, the tension on board the ship eased slightly.
"From the bow deck to the bridge! The enemy's torpedo tubes are rotating. Three o'clock direction! The enemy's torpedo tubes are aimed at... our ship!"
