Chapter 43: Carefree!!!

A high-end western restaurant.

Kingpin raised his glass and clinked it with the elegant woman sitting across from him.

The woman took a sip, smiled, and asked, "Have you finished with everything lately?"

Kingpin, his eyes full of tenderness, replied softly, "Yes, all done. I can finally spend more time with you."

The two exchanged sweet smiles, radiating happiness. But the atmosphere was soon disrupted by an unexpected arrival.

Kingpin's gaze instantly turned icy cold as he looked at Lynch, who had suddenly appeared.

"We can talk outside, so you don't scare the lady," Kingpin said, barely containing his anger and irritation as he spoke in a low voice.

Lynch glanced at the startled beauty, aware that this Vanessa was Kingpin's weak spot, and scoffed.

"Thirty seconds. I'll wait outside," Lynch said before turning to leave.

"Wilson, what's going on? That man looked scary," Vanessa asked, worried.

Kingpin forced a strained smile and reassured her, "It's nothing. Just some business issue. I'll have someone take you home in a bit."

"Alright, but be careful," Vanessa said.

Kingpin quickly gave orders to his men and then hurried outside, stopping next to Lynch.

"What do you want?" Kingpin asked through gritted teeth, his face twitching with barely suppressed rage.

Being interrupted during his date with Vanessa had frayed his nerves. She was his wife in his eyes, his Achilles' heel, his soft spot, his only weakness.

Lynch glanced at him indifferently and sneered, "I'm not as despicable as you."

Hearing that, Kingpin's expression softened slightly.

"Vanessa doesn't know anything. None of this has anything to do with her," Kingpin frowned.

"So you're planning to die alone?" Lynch responded coldly.

Kingpin's face darkened, and he sneered, "You can't kill me. I control this place. If I die, Hell's Kitchen will descend into chaos, and countless people will die in the aftermath..."

He threatened as he studied Lynch's reaction.

Unfortunately for him, Lynch remained unmoved.

"Is that all?" Lynch asked with a chillingly indifferent expression. "Do you really think I care about any of that?"

"You might be mistaken, Fisk. You probably think I'll be concerned about your words, afraid of innocent people dying..."

With a couple of cold laughs, Lynch said flatly, "Do you really think I care about people who have nothing to do with me? Besides, most of Hell's Kitchen is full of scum."

"Do you think we're here to discuss right and wrong, justice or evil?"

As Lynch spoke, his body began to rise into the air until he hovered above.

"You're wrong. There's only one reason I came here to kill you."

"And that is... I'm not happy. I hate you, and I want to kill you!"

"For so long, I've been concerned about everything..."

"Afraid of doing things wrong, afraid of the consequences..."

"But now, I've realized."

"None of that matters."

"What matters is me. And all this time, I never considered how I felt..."

Lynch closed his eyes, recalling all the moments since he had crossed into this world.

The runaway car...

Fighting Iron Monger, being hunted by the military, experimented on in labs, betrayed by Tony, beaten by Abomination, and now manipulated by Kingpin...

Each moment brought pain.

Each moment was filled with deep malice.

If not for the system, he would have been long dead by now.

For so long, he hadn't enjoyed a single day of the corrupt pleasures of capitalism.

All because he had overthought things, considered too much! Even after being transported to another world, he constantly worried about others, afraid this world would get worse because of him…

If that's the case, what's the point of living again? What's the point of crossing over?

In this world, he should be more reckless, more carefree!

In this world, he should live for himself!

Do what he enjoys! If he likes someone, he'll go after them! If he wants something, he'll take it!

If he doesn't like something, he'll destroy it! If he doesn't like someone, he'll kill them!

The world should be that simple!

After thinking it over, Lynch opened his eyes, a terrifying light in them.

Kingpin looked up, despair written all over his face.

Realizing there was no escaping from Lynch, his demeanor shifted, revealing the powerful leader within as he forced down his terror and despair. He calmly pleaded, "After I die, could you look after Vanessa...?"

"Don't worry. I'll take care of your wife and kids," Lynch replied with a strange phrase that Kingpin barely understood but found oddly reassuring.

But he wasn't planning to die without a fight. Kingpin...

Even if he was to die, it would be in battle!

He drew his gun, quickly aiming for Lynch's eyes, then dodged Lynch's heat vision with surprising agility for his size. He sprinted towards an advertisement board, launching himself at Lynch!

Lynch, still floating in the air, didn't even bother to blink.

As Kingpin's powerful strike descended, a glimmer of hope crossed his despairing face.

And then, he saw the light.

On the other side of the light, he saw his gentle, loving mother and his kind, understanding fiancée...

...

"Natasha."

Lynch knocked on the café window and called out.

"Come out."

Natasha stared at Lynch, slightly taken aback.

With her sharp instincts, she could immediately tell that something about Lynch had changed. He was more carefree, more confident, and...

More handsome.

The two of them strolled through the Christmas-lit streets of New York, laughing and chatting happily.

Suddenly, a huge, extravagantly decorated balloon floated overhead.

Lynch looked at it, a thought crossing his mind.

He turned to Natasha and asked, "Have you ever flown?"

"Of course, I've flown plenty of times..." Natasha began confidently, then caught on to Lynch's playful smile.

"Not like this," she added.

As expected from the head of a spy agency, always quick on her feet.

"Hold on to me!" Lynch said, wrapping his arm around Natasha's slim waist.

"We're going up!"

In an instant, the two of them soared into the sky.

"Whoa!"

Natasha's face flushed with excitement.

"This feels different!" she exclaimed.

"Of course," Lynch replied.

As the cold wind hit, Natasha instinctively held on tighter to Lynch.

They ascended high, the entire New York skyline laid out beneath them.

For a moment, they were both captivated by the night view, embracing in silence.

After a while, Lynch, overcome with emotion, kissed Natasha's sweet lips.

The taste lingered, the softness in his arms making Lynch lose himself.

"Let's go down!"

"Where to?"

"Somewhere else!"
