Fiona's POV

The flicker of candlelight illuminated Sebastian's office, casting long shadows across the walls. He leaned against his desk, arms crossed, his sharp features softened by the warm glow. I perched on the edge of one of the armchairs, nerves prickling under his gaze.

"Fiona," he began, his voice calm yet probing, "are you sure there's nothing you want to talk about?"

His question felt heavier than it should, and my chest tightened. I opened my mouth to respond, but the words tangled in my throat. I didn't want to lie to him, but I wasn't ready to reveal what I'd been doing either.

"I'm just overwhelmed," I said finally, forcing a small smile. "The wedding, the pack, everything… it's a lot to process."
