Chapter 8: Chapter 7: Diwata Part 3

(Flashback Continuation)

For the sealing of the passageway in between realms, Bathala depleted his power. He shed his mantle and left his consciousness and Divine Power to safeguard Heaven. Then, he traveled to the human realm, choosing a vessel for his Tao. With his blood, he sealed the portals to the human realm.

But, as they said, no prison is impenetrable, lock does not exist without keys, as well as wardens. As he shed his blood, he uttered the seven words that would banish the creatures back to their exiled land. The portals were accessible only for four months a year, namely March, April, October, and November. During these months, the Lantawans around the world become thin enough for creatures of higher power to cross over.

As time passed, the existence of creatures from another realm that roamed Earth became relegated to myths and legends. Most of them are buried under the soil, forgotten. But there are those, born from the union of humans and their so-called gods and goddesses. Humans possess Tao as well as the power unique to those who have been banished.

They are, later on, relegated to be guardians of the Lantawan. Those humans with special blood, are allowed to access the hidden knowledge of heaven. But as their predecessors have fallen, some of them also went astray. Corrupted by darkness, they let their bodies be vessels to Tenebrio and his legion of fallen.

They became slaves as their Tao left their bodies, chained in the realm called hell. Little by little, the light of Earth became corrupted with darkness. Wars were raised, and greed and desolation became prevalent. What was once created to house Bathala's favored creatures was once again corrupted by the fallen. The cycle went on for eons until Bathala decided to hide the three treasures away from his realm.

To stop Tenebrio from trying to access Heaven using the imprisoned Tao he is collecting, he created dimensions, similar to Earth, but in a different plane. He created Ophir, the land of Gold, which became the Galleon's home port, He created Atlantis, the land under the sea, where he placed the land where he hid the spring of eternal youth. Then, for the most dangerous possession, the Tree of Knowledge, he entrusted the task to the 300 Fallen in the Kaibabawan. He trusted them to guard this treasure and protect it from Tenebrio and his legion.

He added Lantawans that connect the Earth to Kaibabawan. He entrusted humans filled with his Tao and Power to guard the Lantawans together with their Kaibabawan Counterparts. Those who guard them in Kaibabawan became part of the family, royals called Diwata, while lower beings of power were called Encanto. On the human realm, they called the guardians Ermitanyo (for male) and Ermitanya (for female), hermits that can freely travel from one Lantawan to the other, known through different names in different places of Earth, ensuring the protection of Lantawans from the possessed and the enslaved.

Bathala, together with his guardians created a seal on passages to Impyerno, the land ruled by Tenebrio. But every 300 years, with the appearance of the blood moon, the barrier weakens, and with the right key, they can open to unleash the horror of Tenebrio and his legions once more.
