By the time Angella came down, the food was already served and the kids were waiting for her at the table.
"Fast, mommy," Julianna urged, holding her fork in the air. "I am starving."
Seeing Kevin follow his sister's actions, Angella couldn't help but sigh. "Didn't you both just eat?"
"Yes, but we are still hungry," Kevin stated.
Seeing her kids act like they hadn't eaten for days, Angella helplessly shook her head and sighed. "Alright, eat up." She took her seat while the two kids started gulping down their food for the second time.
When Millie started putting food on her plate, Angella stopped her. "Hold on mom, I won't be able to eat so much."
"This is not much," Millie remarked, continuing her actions. "You need to eat more, you have lost a lot of weight."
"I am fine," Angella grunted. "If I gain any more weight, I will look like a whale."
Millie chuckled at Angella's protest. "Oh, stop with the nonsense. You look beautiful, but you need to keep your strength up. Running after these two requires energy and maybe a third one in the future."
"What third one?" she asked, shoving a mouthful of meat in her mouth.
"A third baby," Millie answered, drawing the attention of not only Angella but also Juliana and Kevin.
"A little baby brother?" Kevin's eyes sparkled with excitement.
"Or a little baby sister," Millie chuckled, serving a piece of meat each to the kids.
"But I want a baby sister," Julianna pouted.
"I already have a baby sister," Kevin retorted.
"And I already have a brother."
Not wanting the argument between them to escalate, Angella quickly intervened. "Alright, there is no need to argue because there is no baby." she looked at her mother with a frown.
Ignoring her daughter's stern stare, Millie said,"Well, someday there will be."
"Mom—" Angella understood what her mother was trying to imply, but that was not something that was possible or something she was looking for at the moment. Her main priority right now was to take care of the kids and to make sure that they adjusted well in the new environment.
"We will talk about it." Millie dismissed the topic, understanding what Angella would say. She didn't want to rush her but she still wanted her to find someone who would not only understand her but also support her in every way possible.
….
While Angella was enjoying her time at home, Damien arrived at his parents house for dinner after home.
"Do you want something else?" Rose asked, placing her hand gently on Damien's shoulder.
"No, this is enough," Damien replied, giving her a smile.
"Eat more." Franklin Anderson, Damien's father, said. He placed the newspaper down, turning his attention towards his son. "Rose spent the entire day preparing all your favourites for dinner."
"You didn't have to take all the trouble, Rose," Damien said. "A simple dinner would have been fine."
"Are you serious?" Rose sighed, placing more food on his plate despite his resistance. "You rarely come home for dinner and you expect me not to serve you something special."
"You are too kind," Damien remarked. "But if I come here too often, I will definitely gain tons of weight."
Rose couldn't help but smile. She always felt happy when Damien dropped by, which was very rare. This is why she never missed a chance to dote on him whenever he did.
Rose was Franklin Andersons second wife. She married into the Amderson family when Damien was eleven years old.
Damien was her step son but she had always considered him like her own. But the same couldn't be said for him.
After Damien's birth mother ran away with her childhood sweetheart when he was just eleven years ago, he was left heartbroken. He was very close to his mother and her sudden departure turned his world upside down.
