Chapter 53: Missed [M]

The pulse under my fingers is erratic, pounding hard beneath Noelle's skin. I can't stop myself from grinning. "You little tease," I murmur against his ear, feeling the heat radiating off him. "The way your eyes burn, your pheromones, everything about you… you always wait for me to break first, don't you?" His mischievous eyes flicker with amusement, and my heart skips a beat. He loves this game.

"I don't know what you're talking about," he says, feigning innocence as he stands and slips from my grasp. His back is to me as he leaves the bathroom, but even the cool droplets from my own hair don't douse the fire burning inside me.

Like the pathetic dog I am, I follow him.

I find Noelle sprawled at the center of the massive bed, waiting for me, his hair still damp, his body glowing in the afternoon light.

"Dinner is served," he says, giggling, eyes full of wicked anticipation.
