Chapter 104: Chapter 104: Just Hearing a Sound of Zila

As far as the current shooting progress is concerned, the literary scenes of "Goblin Slayer" have basically been completed, and the remaining scenes are mainly divided into three parts:

There's the goblin cave plot at the beginning, the battle with trolls in the underground temple ruins in the middle of the film, and the various close-up battle shots of the final battle.

Although the final battle is very important among the three sets of shots, in terms of design and shooting difficulty, the battle with the trolls is actually more difficult.

This is mainly due to two reasons. This scene is a scene where a group fights a boss. Nanaya needs to show the fighting characteristics of everyone in the team, from the boss to the Goblin Slayer, and needs to take everyone's role into consideration.

Another problem is the post-production technology. Although the troll is not the first character to use motion capture technology during the filming of "Goblin Slayer", it is the first character to use new technology. Many detailed technologies need to be slowly explored, so the filming process is very slow.

Although what is finally presented to the audience is certainly a thrilling and exciting battle, when it comes to shooting, it is spliced together by countless small shots.

Therefore, during the filming process, Nanaya and his team would often pause filming after completing an action and then check the actual effect in front of the camera.

Especially the troll played by Nanaya. Whether it was Nanaya himself, Andy Serkis, the special effects staff of the crew, or even Peter Jackson who came to make a cameo appearance, they all paid special attention to this character.

They will analyze every movement and expression captured by the sensors on Nanaya's body, and then discuss them in detail in front of the specially made three-dimensional special effects graphics, summarize their experience, and identify any deficiencies.

After all, in a sense, this troll character can be said to be a guinea pig, and its success or failure is directly related to the upper limit of special effects technology in the two films "Goblin Slayer" and "The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers".

Otherwise, why would this fat guy Peter Jackson be so kind to come and help? Joking with Nanaya was just a side job. The real reason was to perfect the technology of the Weta Workshop he founded, to provide a foundation for the subsequent filming of "The Lord of the Rings".

Of course, the "Goblin Slayer" crew also did not lose out. After all, the latest technology as a selling point can also win the favor of many technology movie enthusiasts.

The "Goblin Slayer" crew lacks influence in Europe and the United States, so it is always good to arouse more interest from the audience.

It has to be said that Weta Workshop has really put a lot of effort into motion capture technology, and their improvements to the original technology amazed Nanaya.

Although it is not a world of difference compared to the technology I used when I first started shooting, at least the improvement in the presentation effect is very obvious.

"Peter, I really envy your people and your technology."

Looking at the rough troll model on the screen, Nanaya couldn't help but sigh. Although it was just a prototype, some details were already done very well.

"No, Kiryu, you guys are not bad either. You can make the water effects look real."

Business promotion is a piece of cake for this fat man. Of course, the Washimine special effects team brought by Nanaya is indeed industry-leading in computer simulation technology.

For example, in the final scene when Goblin Slayer used the Scroll of Transfer to defeat the troll, no real water was used in the entire set. All the water flows and subsequent accumulated water were created using special effects, but the presented picture does not make people feel false at all.

"Okay, you two stop blowing it, the blue screen has been replaced."

Andy Serkis couldn't help but roll his eyes at the two directors' compliments to each other.

"Okay, let's continue."

The black tights on his body were really uncomfortable to wear, and being able to finish the filming early was just what Nanaya wanted.

"But why do we have to switch between green screen and blue screen so often during filming?" Rin, who was adjusting the prop bow and arrow in his hand, asked curiously, "It takes at least half an hour to switch each time. Why not unify them all at once? Is there any particular reason for this?"

"Technically speaking, there is no essential difference between a blue screen and a green screen." Nanaya, who stood back beside Rin and prepared to act with her, explained, "The use of pure blue and pure green is essentially to facilitate the computer special effects production staff to cut out the pictures in the later stage. These props wrapped by the green and blue screens ultimately present the special effects scenes."

"Then why do you keep switching?"

Nanaya's voice revealed helplessness: "Because of your problem, or it was my own design mistake."

"What?"

Seeing Rin's puzzled look, Nanaya first pointed at the emerald green wig on her head, and then pointed at the saint's clothes on Luvia who was resting beside her.

"You and Luvia both have green and blue on them. If we only use green screen, your hair will disappear completely, which is more terrifying than being bald. Similarly, if we use blue screen, Luvia's clothes will become transparent..."

The disappearance and transparency that Nanaya mentioned does not mean that Rin will become bald and Luvia's body will be exposed, but that Rin's hair will disappear completely and only the hairless part will be left. That would be something more terrifying than a horror movie.

"...All right."

This reason really made Lin speechless. She had never thought it would be this reason.

"This situation is actually very common in Hollywood." Peter Jackson also said, "Although blue screen is indeed more convenient when cutting out images, because many Europeans and Americans have blue eyes, using a blue screen will often erase the actor's eyes at the same time. Therefore, most of the people used are green screens."

"I see, but wouldn't it be better if you just change the color of my or Luvia's body parts?"

Rin's question made Nanaya stunned for a while.

"That's why you say it's my fault." Nanaya's smile was bitter. "I didn't even think about this problem at the beginning. My original idea was just to make the colors of the five protagonists as different as possible so that the audience can tell who is who as quickly as possible."

"What's the result?"

Nanaya sighed and said, "The result is that by the time I noticed this problem, it was too late. Your costumes and wigs have all been finalized and are being produced. Instead of redesigning them, it would be better to go through the trouble of getting two types of screens and stagger the two of you to shoot."

Redesigning the game is not as simple as simply changing the color. The matching of colors and the coordination between the entire team are things that require a lot of manpower and resources. It is even possible that not only Rin and Luvia, but also other characters may need to be adjusted.

This kind of change is really too troublesome. What's more important is that such a change may greatly delay the start time, so Nanaya would rather have a little trouble during filming than postpone the start of filming.

After listening to Nanaya's explanation, Rin's mouth twitched slightly. She didn't expect it to be such a ridiculous reason.

"That's not right. Wasn't there a green screen in the scene I was in? What's going on there?"

"Because those shots require you and Luvia to appear at the same time, in order to prevent Luvia's clothes from becoming transparent, I chose a green screen."

"Are you telling me it doesn't matter if I don't have hair?!"

Nanaya felt that his junior was really not smart at all: "Have you forgotten that I asked you to stay as far away from the green screen as possible when filming those scenes? As for those few shots where you had to appear in front of the green screen, I also specifically asked you to wear a hood and not show your hair."

"It seems to be the case..."

After listening to Nanaya's analysis, Rin suddenly realized.

"You... you're an actor after all, you should be a little smarter."

Nanaya's disappointed look made Rin angry. So the girl directly exposed the senior's shortcomings.

"You're still blaming me, Senior. Didn't you do a terrible job yourself? The troll you played was basically the same as an idiot."

"..."

Looking at Rin's smug look as if he was trying to hurt each other, Nanaya felt a little depressed but helpless.

After all, to be honest, Nanaya didn't think he was a good actor. If Nanaya were a director, he would just kick himself out of the crew and never hire him again.

As the acting director of the crew, Andy Serkis will of course help Nanaya to perform his role well.

"Kiryu, I think you can be more open and show a wilder side as a troll. I think your movements should be more exaggerated and wild."

"More exaggerated?"

"Your movements are still too human. You are a monster wearing only rough shorts and have no sense of shame."

Luvia, who was standing on the other side, also agreed with Andy Serkis' words, "Senior, I think you can try what I did, forget your identity as a human being, and imagine yourself as a troll."

"I'll try."

Nanaya nodded, not quite understanding what was going on. He stood in front of the camera and started filming again.

"Action!"

"Ouch!"

Nanaya let out a loud roar, picked up the giant prop sword made of blue screen and slashed at the elf girl played by Lin.

According to the script, Rin needs to dodge sideways and then shoot an arrow handsomely at Nanaya who has turned into a troll.

But at this moment, an accident happened.

Lin's feet slipped and her body leaned back. The prop bow in her hand was raised up and hooked onto the fig leaf in front of Nanaya's crotch.

Zira——

The sound of cloth tearing was heard, and Nanaya's black fig leaf was broken into two pieces.

Thus, the size and shape of Nanaya's personal top-level secret suddenly appeared in front of Rin without reservation.

For a moment, an eerie silence filled the studio. Everyone present was embarrassed, very, very embarrassed.
