Chapter 25: The big writing continues
Dr. Andrews says, " why did you beat her. What was her mistake? She was in a relationship. She wants to get married to a man of her choice. Both of them were serious in their relationship as per the information given by Vathi."
Dr. Kanika says, " Dr. Andrews this is not a western country. Most South-Asian parents have opinions on everything in their child's life. The worst part is that they never listen to their child. Especially, in the case of relationships, non-acceptances and rejections are common here."
Dr. Andrews says, Devaraj whatever it might be, physical abuse is bad, and that too with a young girl. Parents always want their children to be happy and get settled in life.
But they choose from 'boxers to the bride for boys: theory triple-B and 'ghagra to groom for girls: theory triple-G. These theories are like "Giving freedom to a bird from its cage after its wings are cut". I'm always fed up with these triple-B and triple-G theories few parents. Yet some parents listen to their children's wishes and desires too.
Whatever happened is past, Mr. Devaraj. We can never change it. You both shouldn't have behaved with her rudely."
Devaraj says, " I don't accept with you, Doctor. Parents have all rights on their children."
Dr. Andrews says, Yes but you can use triple-B and triple-G theories on your child.
Let me tell you that I'm 80 years old and I have an experience of 50+ years of in psychiatry in all sub-continents of the world. In my observation, I found that most South- Asian youngsters are in depression when their parents don't understand their choices.
Even my daughter-in-law is from India. Even her parents did not accept their relationship. I spoke to them and then arranged the marriage."
Dr. Kanika asks, "Why are you not accepting her relationship? Yes, she is depressed. What is your problem? Both of you did not speak to Shenoy?"
Devaraj says, " I'll never speak to Shenoy. I gave one chance to Vathi. I asked her to call Shenoy. He said that he will call back her in ten minutes but didn't call her till today. He is a cheater and rogue. He never loved her."
Dr. Kanika asks, " Did you ever tried to call him again?"
Devaraj says, " If that idiot wants to marry my daughter he should ask me. Why would I call him!!"
Dr. Andrews asks, " you gave her a chance. This means that you didn't allow her to call back again?"
Devaraj replies, "yes, I didn't and I'll never. I took her laptop also, otherwise, she will contact him in social media or mail."
Dr. Kanika says, " Dr. Andrews, Vathi did not come here till now. It's been an hour."
Francessca says, " She might be doing " BIG WRITING" of her life.
