Chapter 75: Chapter 75: Credits? Hold on, I’ll be on the Battlefield in a Flash

Tang Jinyi and Sophia were taken aback by Liam's casual comment, while Jack's jaw nearly dropped to the ground.

What does he mean by "only S-class"?

Is that even something a human would say?

"Brother, you're a bit too bold... only S-class? How do you think that makes me feel as a D-class?"

Jack, ever the comic relief, started clowning around again, practically the team's mascot.

After a brief moment of surprise, Tang Jinyi laughed, saying with a smile,

"You sure are confident, aren't you? 'Only' S-class talent? Do you know how many people would give half their lifespan for an S-class talent?"

"However, your confidence does have a basis. You're not just any S-class talent."

"This red 'S' represents S+—meaning your talent is beyond S-class, truly at the pinnacle of human ability."

"Although the Father of Superhumans once classified talents as SS and SSS, later generations could never concretely distinguish between these levels. So, all talents surpassing S-class are represented by the red 'S'."

Tang Jinyi explained with a smile, then jokingly asked Liam,

"So, tell me, what level do you think your talent is? Confident it's SSS-level?"

"They say that when SSS-level abilities are fully developed, they have the power to destroy worlds."

Listening to Tang Jinyi's playful comment, Liam responded with a somewhat perfunctory smile but said nothing more.

The system had clearly told him that Frostbound was an SSS-level ability.

Destroy worlds… it seems neither I nor Sophia has unlocked the full potential of this power yet.

The test ended, and everyone left happily—except for Jack, who was practically dragging his face on the ground.

As they left, Tang Jinyi played the role of a caring elder, asking Liam various questions about his daily life, which made him feel a bit uncomfortable.

Liam didn't realize she had learned a lot about him from Cain, so her sudden warmth and concern felt unfamiliar.

"Playing online games? It's fine to relax, but don't get addicted."

"Playing with online friends? Let me tell you, the internet is full of all kinds of people, many with bad intentions. Don't get too close to them."

"And remember, never get into an online relationship! It's a deep pit; you won't handle it well."

These were Tang Jinyi's parting words to Liam.

Sophia: ...

Standing behind Tang Jinyi, she clenched her fists.

Is this what it feels like to be stabbed in the front?

Eventually, Liam and Jack left together while Sophia stayed behind to discuss some work matters with the Vice Dean.

On the way back, Liam asked Jack,

"Your talent should be pretty high, right? Why go to such lengths to pretend just for some guaranteed hours?"

Jack's expression changed instantly, "What are you talking about? I'm only D-class. Don't slander me!"

Liam: ...

Alright, this guy's a lost cause.

Suddenly, Jack flashed a smile, as if he had seen through the world, and said,

"Why work yourself to death every day? What's it got to do with me, all this talk about a superhuman's duty? If the sky falls, the tall ones will hold it up. If they can't, we all die together anyway."

"Face? Honor? Status? People who care about those things, to me, they haven't evolved well."

"If you see real benefits right in front of you, and you don't take them, someone else will. I'm living pretty comfortably in the PR department, and I don't bother with all that holier-than-thou stuff."

After speaking, Jack let out a big yawn and stretched towards the setting sun.

"Alright, so I lost my guaranteed hours, bad luck. But I did find a good recruit. Not too bad, I guess."

"Time to go play. See you around, brother. Hit me up if you need anything."

And with that, he took off like a shot.

Liam watched his back for a long time, frowning without saying a word.

This guy, it's hard to put a finger on him—so shameless yet so natural that it seemed perfectly normal.

All in all, he was a peculiar person.

Having just arrived at Eastern Academy, Liam decided to wander around the vast campus, which was like a community in itself.

Taking out his phone, he instinctively thought of messaging his yogurt stick friend.

Suddenly, the app Jack had installed on his phone pinged, showing a red dot.

A request for help had popped up, standing out starkly.

From his earlier conversation with Jack, Liam knew that practice credits were hard to come by. One hundred twenty credits were tough to accumulate, often requiring participation in dangerous missions.

Seeing this notification, and recalling Jack's advice—"first come, first served"—Liam quickly tapped to accept it, claiming his spot before reading the details.

He learned that the area he was in was on the outskirts of Eastern Academy, and there was a disturbance nearby.

The message didn't specify the exact issue, only mentioning that some civilians had been "bewitched," becoming crazed and difficult to handle.

They urgently needed support, preferably from someone at the Fourth Realm or higher.

After reading, Liam scratched his head, unsure of the protocol. He was a Fifth Realm, so he should be able to handle it, but what about the promised credits and training room hours? None of that was mentioned.

After thinking it over, he cautiously replied,

"Are there credits and training room hours? How does this work?"

In a remote street on the outskirts of Eastern Academy...

A young woman from the Patrol Department stood with a serious expression facing a group of people. It was her assigned area today.

The people were drooling, their eyes filled with confusion, possessing immense strength. Some could even shoot energy blasts from their hands.

The young woman wielded two energy pistols but found herself retreating step by step, her clothes disheveled.

These people weren't divine servants or deities; they were merely influenced by some energy, losing their consciousness.

It was already challenging to deal with, and she couldn't bring herself to go all out, making the situation even more complicated.

Suddenly, her phone pinged.

To her surprise, someone had responded to her SOS signal so quickly.

Lucky!

She eagerly opened her phone to see Liam's response...

For a moment, she almost choked. She nearly spat blood.

???!!

Who the hell is this?! Are you out of your mind?!

"Who are you? This isn't the time for jokes! This is urgent! Quickly find a teacher or someone from the Operations Department to send reinforcements!"

She sent the message, and shortly after, a reply came back.

"I get it, it's urgent. Don't worry. But are there credits or something? How does this work?"

Her blood pressure shot through the roof. How could anyone be so inconsiderate? She picked up her phone, too mad to type, and yelled into it:

"Yes! Yes, there are! Credits, hours, rewards, whatever you want, just send reinforcements now! If you're late, you'll be held responsible!!!"

Seeing this, Liam thought it was a good deal and decided to use this opportunity to see how earning credits worked.

He replied at once:

"Got it. Hold on, I'll be on the battlefield in a flash!"
