Chapter 55: Unknown Enemy

"I think it's the same entity that's behind the extremely strange occurrences tonight," the High Priest answered.

Leon's expression deflated like a balloon.

Why did such an entity try to kill him? He couldn't remember a single instance where he could have offended it. Heck, he hadn't even met it. He didn't even know who it was. His enemy was a completely mystery to him.

"It's after you," the High Priest added.

Upon hearing Eldric's words, Leon was shaken.

A chill crept down his spine.

"But there's no reason," he stuttered. "Why would it target me?"

"Maybe there is. You just don't know," the High Priest said thoughtfully. "While evil spirits are known for harming others solely for the sake of doing evil, that's only true for the lower-grade ones. A powerful evil spirit doesn't act without a good reason."

"If you were to guess, what would that reason be?" Leon asked.
