Chapter 19: I HAVE FOUND MY DESIRED PROTAGONIST

The director Daniel Exxo was considering Amaranta's physical characteristics, from what he had seen, she was a very attractive girl, blonde with a fairy face, gray eyes that make you not stop seeing her eyes, thin, she needs a little more body for your taste is emaciated thin.

He had met Amaranta Cid at the entrance of the store before. From what he had seen of her, he estimated that she was at least 1.70 meters tall. If she was going to be the female lead, then the male lead definitely didn't have to be less than 1.80 meters tall, because they couldn't make the male lead stand on a box while filming the scenes in which he and Amaranta were together! Just imagining it made him die of laughter, how ridiculous that would look, and to think that some actors do make them do that.

"I just knew you'd agree to do this."

Johanna Sáenz stood up. Although she was no longer a young woman in her twenties, she still missed the good old days of her youth every time she reflected on them.

«I'm going back now. As a director, I have to personally supervise many things related to the production of the film. As for the female lead, are you sure she has the acting chops to pull it off? We need a real actor, not an ornamental vase.

On the big screen, a woman who lacks acting skills is like a wooden beauty. She negatively affects the film and makes it tasteless.

Daniel Exxo did some calculations in her head. If he added his assets to Johanna Sáenz's investment, would it be enough money for them to finance the production of the film?

Fortunately, the female lead was a rookie, and she couldn't charge a big fee for her role. Because of that, maybe they should only hire newbies for the movie.

"Why don't you stay and have dinner with us and try what Amaranta and her grandmother are cooking for us for dinner tonight?"

"Okay, then I'll stay."

Daniel Exxo didn't think it would make that much of a difference if he stayed here with them for a while longer instead of returning right away.

«Mrs. Mary, Amaranta. I have a friend who is joining us for dinner. Is he okay with you?

Grandma nodded and replied, "Of course, no problem."

Amaranta, wearing an apron, stood to the side and waited for Johanna and Daniel to enter, meanwhile, her profile partially illuminated by the lights of the small kitchen, covered in a golden glow.

Johanna and Daniel entered the little house at the back of the store. There, they saw a simple round table covered with a checkered tablecloth and four folding chairs propped up around it.

«Madam, you are an excellent cook. "You could stay and open a restaurant here in the Capital City."

Hearing Daniel Exxo compliment her grandmother on her cooking skills, Amaranta was over the moon, even more so than if she had been the one Daniel Exxo had praised. "Sir, my grandmother couldn't open a restaurant," she said. "Running a restaurant is extremely exhausting."

Johanna looked smugly at Daniel as if to say, See what I mean? The person I have set my eyes on is a very good person.

Grandma was very grateful to Johanna for her kindness in letting her and her granddaughter stay in the store. But, because she was simple and honest, she couldn't rest easy until she repaid the kindness she had shown them.

«Amaranta, what are your plans for the future?» Daniel Exxo asked.

"Do everything possible to be accepted at the Capital University," Amaranta Cid responded with a very sweet and dreamy voice.

Capital university?

Stunned, Daniel Exxo looked at Johanna Sáenz and suddenly doubted Johanna's decision to choose him as her protagonist. If Amaranta was determined to be accepted into Capital University, should they even consider casting her in her role?

"Do you have a profession that interests you?"

At first, Amaranta's goal was simply to be accepted into Capital University.

She hadn't given much thought to what profession she would want to pursue, the reason being that, with her score, she couldn't afford to be picky about what field she would specialize in.

However, now that Daniel Exxo had raised the question, she suddenly remembered someone he had seen on television. At the time, he had assumed that she would be an excellent career choice if she could do the job well and was given the opportunity.

"I want to be a foreign affairs officer."

Amaranta imagined herself as a representative of her country, standing in front of a press conference and responding with elegance and knowledge.

Daniel Exxo looked at Amaranta. Her eyebrows were perfect, and her eyes were full of energy and spirit. One look at a girl like that, and it would be impossible for anyone to He won't like it.

"Amaranta, your ambition is laudable," said Johanna, looking seriously at Amaranta.

«When I was a child, my biggest dream was to become a writer, because then I could sell my words for money and free myself from the limitations that my family imposed on me. Today, I am a writer and can decide how I want to live my life. Amaranta, do you know what it would have been like if I hadn't had that dream when I was young? I would have been the girl next door who marries a man at eighteen and gives birth to his children. I would have had the dismal, mechanical life that my mother had lived.

Fortunately, a book changed my destiny and turned me into the Johanna Sáenz, the writer and screenwriter that I am today, not into Madame Sáenz, a so-and-so lady.

Daniel Exxo had rarely heard Johanna reminisce about the past before. Although he had known Johanna for decades, she had always remained silent about her past, she had always been very apathetic and reserved about her past.

So why was Johanna sharing her past now?

«So, Amaranta, don't be afraid. Just follow your heart, never stop following your instincts. Dare to dream and then proceed to make it come true. One day, you will realize your dream, and you will remember what made you fight to achieve what you wanted most in your youth and that led you to where you are. One of the most horrible things someone can do is not have the courage to dream. If you are too scared to even dream, how will you be brave enough to do what you want in life?

Dare to dream. Dare to make it happen, only then could change take place in one's life, those words resonated in Amaranta's head.

Looking at her grandmother, Amaranta resolved to ensure that her grandmother lived to a ripe old age…

This dinner was especially meaningful for Daniel Exxo and Johanna Sáenz.

It was at this dinner tonight that Daniel Exxo decided to cast Amaranta Cid as the female lead in «MY ADORED DULCE».
