Chapter 50: Chapter 50 - Pristine Integrity

The airlock hissed as pressures equalized. Theia released her hold on the bars first - quietly eager to be free of the confined space. A metal structure could be seen through the pod's viewport. Rising above barren terrain, no signs of decay marked any of its surfaces.

The building was all clean lines and reinforced walls that spoke of contained secrets.

The entire squad filed out of their vehicles and got to work. Their Engineer and Tech moved to scan the entrance while the Fire Team members took defensive positions. Poros moved forward and phased through the first shutter over the entrance to perform a quick perimeter check. 

"Clear on visual. Nothing waiting to ambush yet."

The Shift Walker's voice carried a note of caution through their comms when he returned. Something about the facility's pristine state felt wrong after so many years abandoned. Rather than saying that it made it appear that nothing was there, it was like nothing had *been* there.
