The airlock for the transit pod hissed as it sealed them inside. While housed in an EV suit, Naia couldn't really feel the familiar press of air pressure - but she could still hear the low hum of the shielding field activating. Low, but louder than that of a normal pod.

The vehicle designed for warping those with powers had a few key differences. A kind of greater protection was one of them. Unshielded warp travel could have adverse effects on individuals for a time after it was over. A sort of disorienting sickness that could persist.

Those with powers were especially susceptible, as their connection with the higher forms of universal energy acted almost like a conduit. Naia felt that she would probably not enjoy going through this unshielded, even if it wasn't for her trauma. She was grateful that Command had sent one of these special pods when she was recalled on the last mission with the 373.
